Video Systems Specialist

Apple•Cupertino, CA

About The Position

The Video Systems Specialist is a hands-on technical role supporting premium live and broadcast experiences for Apple at Worldwide Events venues and remote locations. As the team’s visual and display technical specialist, this role owns the visual integrity, color fidelity, signal processing, and reliable operation of large- and small-format LED systems and video playback pipelines across rehearsals, live events, and broadcast productions. The specialist collaborates with technical teams, producers, creative partners, and external vendors, applying strong display-science and signal-flow expertise and executing calmly and precisely in high-stakes, executive-facing environments. The role supports display and video systems at SJT, APO, and remote production sites, including system design, hardware selection, deployment, testing, live monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation. It partners with producers, editors, post-production teams, and engineering teams to optimize content and display performance and evaluate emerging display technologies. The position requires up to 30% domestic and international travel. Work may be required during evenings, overnight hours, weekends, and holidays to support live events and broadcasts.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on technical experience with professional LED display systems, video processors, and live-event video pipelines.
  • Demonstrated understanding of color science, color spaces (Rec.709, DCI-P3, Rec.2020), bit depth, dynamic range, and video inspection using tools such as DaVinci Resolve.
  • Working knowledge of professional LED processing platforms, such as Megapixel Helios and Brompton Tessera.
  • Solid grasp of video-engineering fundamentals, including signal flow (SDI, HDMI, fiber, SMPTE 2110), EDID, aspect ratios, pixel mapping, raster management, genlock, and frame rates.
  • Direct experience operating Apple Keynote and playback hardware in a technical production environment.
  • Proven ability to communicate visual and technical issues cross-functionally with creative, editorial, and executive-facing teams under pressure.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with live-event media servers and screen-management switchers, such as Barco E2/E3, Disguise, and Pixera.
  • Broadcast and on-camera LED display experience, including shutter-angle synchronization, refresh rates, scan lines, and camera-to-display moiré mitigation.
  • Background supporting high-profile keynote presentations, premium product launches, or studio broadcast environments.
  • Practical knowledge of physical screen engineering, including load distribution, ground-support systems, rigging safety, and power distribution.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the technical point of contact for display and video pipeline integrity during rehearsals, executive QCs, and live broadcasts at SJT, APO, and remote production sites.
  • Lead display hardware selection for remote productions, specifying screen types, dimensions, aspect ratios, and pixel pitch to suit audience sight lines and on-camera performance.
  • Develop signal-flow diagrams for live-event display and video systems.
  • Project-manage and oversee deployment of show display and video systems, including vendor management and supervision of technical crews.
  • Assist with setup and deployment of display control systems during rehearsals, live events, and broadcasts, including occasional operation.
  • Partner with Keynote producers, video editors, and post-production teams to establish and enforce best practices for asset delivery and display optimization.
  • Validate color accuracy, luminance, and gamma curves across displays; inspect source files in DaVinci Resolve to troubleshoot color-pipeline mismatches.
  • Troubleshoot processing, cabling, scaling, or tile anomalies in real time without disrupting presenters or live audiences.
  • Perform quality control and live monitoring of video content—including Keynote presentations, product-launch films, pre-show animations, and live feeds—for playback anomalies, dropped frames, motion judder, scaling artifacts, sharpness, and moiré.
  • Communicate visual and technical feedback clearly and diplomatically with creative leads and production stakeholders.
  • Verify signal-path integrity, genlock, frame rates, processing latency, and redundant failovers across display infrastructure.
  • Document and archive system designs, configuration files, system backups, and technical runbooks.
  • Partner with engineering teams to evaluate next-generation display technology, calibration tools, and emerging video-processing platforms.
