  • Willingness and ability to travel for shoots at events and customer sites.
  • Must be based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with the expectation to work from the San Francisco office when needed.

  • Set the creative bar for video, focusing on story, pacing, visuals, sound, and detail to ensure all content is sharp, intentional, and distinctly PlanetScale.
  • Find and shape narratives within technical subject matter into engaging video content.
  • Film on location at customer offices, conferences, events, and the San Francisco office, managing camera, lighting, audio, and direction.
  • Edit long-form YouTube videos, launch assets, event recaps, social clips, and shorts with a strong sense of rhythm, structure, and audience.
  • Own post-production, including pacing, sound design, color, motion graphics, animation, and final polish.
  • Build and manage a lean production pipeline, including gear, scheduling, shot planning, footage organization, stakeholder reviews, and delivery.
  • Operate as a highly hands-on individual contributor, setting creative direction and executing production.
  • Move quickly while protecting quality, adapting to varying production demands week to week.
