About The Position

Are you passionate about storytelling and have the courage to be creative? CityNews is looking for a full-time Video Journalist in Edmonton. This role involves working with a dynamic team to produce creative stories that capture daily life in Edmonton. You will be responsible for coming up with original story ideas, shooting and editing them, and delivering content that stands out from the competition by emphasizing creativity over traditional methods. Additionally, you will report for the 24/7 CityNews Alberta livestream, which may include live or taped segments and talkbacks with the anchor, and provide original content for new prime-time news specials.

Requirements

• A passion for storytelling - you know what makes a great story and know how to tell it
• Ability to find original stories about people and issues which reflect Edmonton’s exciting and diverse communities
• Experience in shooting and editing
• A self-starter with a can-do, solution-oriented attitude
• An understanding of multi-platform coverage, not confined by a ‘typical’ television reporter package
• A conversational live-reporting style
• Ability to multi-task and deliver for multiple daily deadlines
• Prepared to work evenings and weekends
• Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
• Must obtain and maintain a valid security worker licence in certain provinces (e.g. British Columbia) if applicable
• Must clear a criminal background check
• A credit check and drivers abstract may be required depending on the role

• Deliver stories which will stand out from the competition, emphasizing creativity over traditional methods
• Report for our 24/7 CityNews Alberta livestream
• Provide original and enterprise content for our new prime time news specials
