About The Position

Chamber of Progress, a center-left tech industry association devoted to technology’s progressive future, is seeking a part-time Video Director on a contractor basis to lead the organization’s video content strategy and production. The Video Director will help translate Chamber of Progress’ policy campaigns, research, earned media, and advocacy work into compelling video content for social media, partner engagement, press outreach, and digital campaigns. Successful candidates should have strong video production and editing skills, excellent storytelling instincts, an eye for detail, fluency with digital platforms, and an interest in emerging technology and innovation issues. This part-time contractor role is 20 hours per week and can be performed remotely within the continental United States, with a preference for candidates located in the Eastern or Central time zones. The role is ideal for an experienced video producer, editor, or digital storyteller who wants a flexible schedule while contributing to fast-moving public affairs campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of post-college work experience in video production, digital media, communications, campaigns, journalism, advocacy, or a related field
  • Strong video editing skills and fluency with modern video production tools
  • Demonstrated ability to produce polished short-form video content quickly
  • Strong storytelling instincts and ability to make complicated policy issues understandable and engaging
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, digital trends, and platform-specific video formats
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Bias toward action and proactive approach to problem solving
  • Must be able to work 20 hours per week, including attending 10am ET staff meeting Monday through Thursday, and working a minimum of four hours daily Monday-Thursday and three hours on Friday.
  • Remote location within the continental U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with existing tools in use like Figma, Descript, After Effects, and Premiere a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage Chamber of Progress’ video content strategy across policy, communications, and advocacy campaigns
  • Produce, edit, and package short-form videos for social media, digital advocacy, press engagement, and organizational storytelling
  • Turn policy ideas, campaign messages, research findings, and earned media moments into clear and compelling video content
  • Work with communications, campaigns, policy, and government relations staff to identify video opportunities tied to legislative, regulatory, and news moments
  • Create video products for multiple formats and platforms, including vertical social clips, explainers, event recaps, interview clips, rapid-response videos, and partner-facing updates
  • Coordinate graphics, captions, thumbnails, b-roll, stock footage, music, and other production elements
  • Maintain a consistent visual and editorial style for Chamber of Progress video content
  • Track performance of video content and recommend ways to improve reach, engagement, and impact
  • Coordinate with outside vendors or freelancers as needed for specialized production, animation, filming, or paid media projects
  • Work closely with Senior Creative Director and Senior Director of Communications
