About The Position

This is an administrative position where the incumbent performs complex tasks to provide direct services, including information, referrals, and assistance to victims and witnesses of crime as required by the Crime Victim and Witness Rights Act. The Victim Services Case Manager is directly supervised by the Victim Services Director and ultimately reports to the Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a criminal justice, human services or related field
  • Two years of experience in counseling, social work or crisis intervention
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Pre-employment drug testing
  • FBI criminal background check
  • Education/degree verification required
  • Successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience at a Victim Witness office is highly desirable

Responsibilities

  • Provides referrals to specialized counseling or social services
  • Provides information and direction in applying for services available to crime victims
  • Provides information regarding victim / witness issues during court proceedings
  • Aides in facilitating notice of judicial proceedings, prisoner status and assistance in obtaining restitution documentation in criminal cases
  • Coordinates court appearances with employers/schools, obtaining advance notice of court proceedings
  • Assist in obtaining services for an interpreter
  • Assist in preparation of Victim Impact Statements
  • Provides notification of proceedings or dispositions involving charged parties
  • Performs necessary community outreach and engages in training
  • Other tasks and duties as required by the Victim Services Director
