About The Position

The Victim Advocate shall be responsible for the provision of services to victims of domestic and sexual violence and their families to include victim assistance, community education, and volunteer management in the designated satellite center and relevant service area. , including but not limited to the following: Victim Assistance: 1. Assess cl i ent needs and provide serv i ces as needed . 2. Prov i de ind i v i dua l cr i s i s and support group counse l i ng fo r v i ct im s and the i r f ami li es . 3. Provide support serv i ces for v i ct i ms and their fam i l i es to i nc l ude advocacy , hosp it al and court accompan i ment , i nformat i on and referra l , and resou r ce procurement. 4. Provide follow-up serv i ces to v i ct i ms and the i r famil i es . 5. Provide staff back - up for volunteer v i ctim advocates at night a n d on weekends on a r o tation bas i s . 6. Maint a in and enter services i nto database on a da il y bas i s . 7. Complete necessary reports as schedu l ed . Volunteer Program 1. Schedule and manage volunteers . 2. Maintain and enter volunteer stat i stics in to database on monthly basis . Inter-Agency Coordination 1. Represent Pee Dee Coalition and take an active part in related community task forces , comm i ttees . etc . Community Education, Train in g, And Awareness 1. Provide commun i ty educat ion and awareness on the i ssues of domestic and sexua l v i olence and program serv i ces as assigned . 2. Document all community edu cation and submit r eports according to organizat i ona l po li cy . 3. Assist with the planning and Implement at1on of act i v i t i es for spec i a l awareness months (C h ild Abuse Prevention , Sexual Assault Awareness , and Domestic Viol ence Awareness ) . 4. Actively distribute brochures , cris i s cards , and materials throug hout the commun i ty 5. Assist with i n-serv i ce trainings for professionals 6. Participate in the public education component of the organization through public speaking, media interviews, and attendance/participation in community events. General Responsibilities 1. Adhere to a ll organizat i ona l pol i c i es and procedures as outl i ned i n the Staff Manual , Program Proc edures Manua l . and Personnel Pol ic i es . Consult supervisor with questions . 3. Participate in staff deve l opment tra i n i ngs as i nd i cated by superv i sor . Summarize inform at ion and report accord ingly . 4. Perform adm i nistrative functions as approp ri ate for pos i t ion and meet organizationa l deadlines as i ndicated . 5. Prepare monthly service/activity reports for the Boa r d of Directors . 6. Obta i n Victim Serv ic e Provider certification w i thin first year of employment and maintain annua lly by securing appropriate number of tra i n i ng hours . 7. Assist w i th the genera l maintenance and upkeep of bui l d i ng .

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, or related field of study (Psychology, Sociology or Criminal Justice)
  • Must have experience with Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
  • Must provide services in Marion and Dillon County.
  • Reside in the Marion or Dillon County.
  • Must be able to respond after hours to local hospitals to provide advocacy/support
  • Must be able to attend after hours events
