About The Position

The Seminole County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Victim Advocate Supervisor to provide critical, multifaceted leadership. The supervisor will also oversee complex cases, provide crisis intervention guidance, advocate on behalf of clients to external stakeholders, evaluate responses to identify needs, and ensure collaboration with other victim services providers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a closely related field
• Three (3) years of experience related to victim advocacy or criminal justice
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License
• Regular and prompt attendance is mandatory.
• Knowledge of County geography.
• Knowledge of Florida Statutes in reference to victim/witness assistance.
• Knowledge of community resources to assist victims.
• Ability to demonstrate ethical and professional behavior; analyze information or situations; synthesize information and/or circumstances; and solve problems.
• Ability to recall facts and/or information; describe persons, things, and/or events.
• Ability to read and comprehend.
• Ability to behave respectably and with utmost integrity even when off duty.

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical and administrative oversight to a team of victim advocates and volunteers, ensuring that individuals who have experienced trauma, abuse, or are victims of crime receive compassionate and trauma-informed support.
• Oversee the daily operations of the Victim Advocate Unit by maintaining the on-call calendar and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Maintain an on-call status and respond to crime scenes as needed.
• Assist in the development and presentation of community programs.
• Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review the work of personnel responsible for victim advocacy functions.
• Ensure grant-related responsibilities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.
• Establish methods for best practices by identifying goals and objectives, implementing policies and procedures, and identifying and addressing the unit's needs.
• Provide professional guidance, mentoring, and emotional support to foster resilience among Victim Advocate staff through coaching, regular debriefings to prevent compassion fatigue and burnout, and other measures that promote well-being.
• Oversee complex or high-risk cases, provide crisis intervention guidance, and advocate on behalf of the agency and its clients to external stakeholders, including law enforcement, prosecutors, and community leaders.
• Evaluate callouts and field responses to identify needs and allocate resources accordingly.
• Interact with other victim services providers to ensure collaboration and community partnership.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
