The VICRYL Extrusion Lead is responsible for leading daily extrusion manufacturing operations while ensuring safety, quality, compliance, and production objectives are met. This role provides technical expertise in extrusion processes, supports troubleshooting and continuous improvement efforts, coordinates shift activities, trains and develops associates, and partners with cross-functional teams to drive operational excellence. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving, and manufacturing experience in a fast-paced production environment.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education, technical training, and extrusion manufacturing experience.
  • 4-6 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in extrusion or related production environments.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing procedures, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and manufacturing software applications.

Nice To Haves

  • 6-8 years of extrusion manufacturing experience.
  • Medical device, pharmaceutical, or other highly regulated manufacturing experience.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate day-to-day extrusion operations to meet production, quality, safety, and delivery goals.
  • Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize extrusion equipment and associated manufacturing systems.
  • Support startup, shutdown, changeovers, and process adjustments to ensure efficient production.
  • Monitor process performance, yield trends, and quality metrics; identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate staffing, job rotations, training activities, and shift priorities.
  • Train, coach, and support operators while fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Lead shift crossover meetings and communicate operational updates across shifts and departments.
  • Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Operations teams to resolve issues and improve performance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Six Sigma, OEE improvements, and 6S programs.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, GDP, FDA, environmental, health, safety, and company requirements.
  • Maintain accurate production records and utilize manufacturing systems such as CAMSTAR and other business applications.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning.
