About The Position

The Capital Solutions Group at Goldman Sachs operates at the intersection of public and private markets, offering a comprehensive suite of financing, origination, structuring, and risk management solutions. Within this group, PSI (Public Sector Investment Banking) provides debt underwriting and advisory services to a diverse range of public sector entities, including governmental entities, public power and utility systems, transportation agencies, higher education organizations, healthcare organizations, and sports franchises. PSI focuses on originating, structuring, and executing various debt, derivative, advisory, and public-private partnership transactions across the U.S. This specific role involves assisting in the structuring, execution, and leadership of municipal commodity prepayment transactions, which requires extensive modeling and deep engagement with credit and interest rate markets. This is a rapidly growing sector within the municipal market, offering significant opportunities for advancement.

Requirements

• Strong academic record with Bachelor’s level, equivalent or above required
• At least two years experience in financial services (preferably in the public sector)
• Drive, enthusiasm, creativity and excellent stakeholder/client relationship management experience
• Personal integrity, initiative and leadership qualities
• Strong analytical background with experience working with large and complex data sets
• Strong communication (verbal and written), multi-tasking and time management skills
• Must be a collaborative team player

Nice To Haves

• Experience with client coverage and execution of municipal or project finance transactions
• Experience with debt structuring and capital markets execution

Responsibilities

• Assist in structuring, executing, and leading municipal commodity prepayment transactions.
• Perform extensive modeling for financings.
• Engage with credit and interest rate markets.
• Collaborate across different financial verticals to benefit municipalities.
• Gain exposure to the firm's businesses and expanded knowledge of the investment banking industry.
• Be deeply involved in modeling, document review, solution generating, and client coverage of an important municipal client base.
• Work with colleagues in commodities, credit sales and trading, investment grade underwriting, and coverage of multiple industries.
