About the Team This global team serves as the guardians of the Workmate brand, bridging the gap between high-level executive strategy and the daily lived experience of every employee. They balance operational scale—managing complex People & Purpose communications—with emotional storytelling that brings the company’s mission to life. The Vice President of Workmate Communications plays a critical role in helping our employees feel connected to where we’re going, grounded in who we are, and confident in the leadership guiding us forward. Reporting to the Chief Communications Officer , this role is a senior leader on the Communications team and a close partner to the Chief People Officer and executive leadership. Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in internal, employee, or corporate communications, ideally in a global organization.
  • Background in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven experience shaping internal narratives that support company strategy and culture.
  • Experience partnering closely with People teams and senior leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Translate Workday’s vision and values into communications that are human, inspiring, and easy to connect to.
  • Clarify our strategy in ways that are memorable and meaningful, not abstract or overly complex.
  • Ensure our internal story reflects not just what we do, but why it matters.
  • Anchor communications in Workday’s values—Employees, Customers, Innovation, Integrity, Fun, and Profitability—and help Workmates see how those values guide decisions and behaviors.
  • Create moments and narratives that reinforce who we are and what we stand for, especially when it matters most.
  • Help leaders communicate with authenticity and intention, building real connections with Workmates.
  • Partner closely with our Chief People Officer and executive team to shape messages, tone, cadence, and forums.
  • Support leaders in showing up consistently, clearly, and human-first.
  • Create communications that build confidence and optimism about Workday’s future.
  • Help Workmates understand how innovation, growth, and culture come together to shape our next chapter.
  • Reinforce pride in being part of Workday, not through hype, but through clarity and conviction.
  • Own and evolve Workday’s internal narrative so it shows up consistently across channels, regions, and moments.
  • Oversee companywide communications that keep Workmates informed, aligned, and inspired.
  • Cut through noise with simplicity, focus, and respect for Workmates’ time and intelligence.
  • Lead and mentor a global team responsible for Workmate communications strategy, content, and channels.
  • Oversee communications across People & Purpose areas including Total Rewards, Talent Experience, Learning & Development, and VIBE.
  • Foster a team culture rooted in connection, creativity, impact and high standards
  • Collaborate closely with functional communications teams and cross-functional leaders to ensure a strong, cohesive Workday voice.
  • Support major company moments from innovation milestones to cultural moments with thoughtfulness and care.
  • Use thoughtful metrics and feedback to understand what resonates with Workmates.
  • Continuously refine how we communicate to strengthen understanding, trust, and connection.
