About The Position

Leo Berwick is looking for a Vice President, US M&A Tax to join their growing deal team. This role is ideal for someone currently working in a Big 4 or Big Law firm's transactional tax group who is seeking to escape conflict-of-interest rules and bureaucracy, and who wants to be rewarded for their expertise and contributions. The position offers the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals, help grow the practice, and be recognized for efforts.

Requirements

  • JD or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Tax Law, or a related field
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in tax due diligence, deal structuring, and post-merger integration at a Big 4, corporate tax department, or Big Law firm
  • 4 years of experience planning and executing projects, including managing budgets
  • Translate complex tax concepts into clear, actionable insights for clients and stakeholders
  • Demonstrate strong writing, research, analytical, communication, and presentation skills
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, professional services environment, managing competing priorities
  • Uphold exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to technical excellence and quality control
  • Demonstrate strong leadership by mentoring junior team members and driving team performance
  • Take ownership of deliverables, ensuring timelines are met in a deadline-driven environment
  • Manage multiple engagements simultaneously, balancing client expectations and internal priorities
  • Apply critical thinking and sound judgment to solve complex problems and drive client outcomes proactively

Responsibilities

  • Oversee international and domestic M&A deals, including performing tax due diligence and tax structuring services
  • Be a trusted advisor for every Leo Berwick client and partnership
  • Provide timely and quality tax advice, always aiming to exceed client expectations
  • Work closely with Partners and Directors on business development and various technical tax issues dealing with Subchapter C, Subchapter K, inbound and outbound international tax issues
  • Review and assist clients in the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the tax data in their financial projections for the transaction
  • Review tax aspects of merger agreements and legal documents; provide tax opinion memorandums
  • Develop, motivate, and train Senior Associates and Associates
