About The Position

Helix, KKR’s newly established investment platform focused on integrated infrastructure for the digital economy, is seeking a Vice President, Technical Lead to serve as its in-house technical authority on AI infrastructure across electrical, mechanical, and rack-level systems. The role is the primary technical interface with hyperscaler, chip, and supply-chain counterparties. The position provides technical judgment to support investment decisions on power density, cooling architectures, rack-level design trends driven by next-generation silicon, and the durability of current design assumptions. It also advises where Helix should build, partner, or acquire capabilities, including supply-chain positioning and manufacturing integration, with the goal of compounding the platform’s advantage. The successful candidate will bring senior-level experience in a leading technical organization, external credibility, and the ability to distinguish durable technical trends from short-lived ones. The expected annual base salary range for this New York-based position is $300,000–$400,000. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on factors such as individual and team performance. KKR is an equal opportunity employer and provides reasonable accommodations as required by law.

Requirements

  • Senior design or engineering leadership at a hyperscaler or large-scale data center operator in an infrastructure, facilities, or systems design organization, or senior technical leadership at a neocloud.
  • Demonstrated experience translating technical roadmaps into business and product decisions; the role is not suited to a purely engineering-execution background.
  • Deep working knowledge of data center electrical and mechanical systems, cooling architecture, and rack-level design.
  • Credibility with senior technical counterparts and the ability to participate as a peer in design reviews.
  • Strong judgment in distinguishing durable trends from short-lived ones.
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical trade-offs to investment professionals and decision-makers.
  • Collaborative approach and comfort working across investment, operating, and external advisory teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end technical diligence on data center investments, from initial screening through investment committee.
  • Assess the technical fit and capability of vendors across the supply chain.
  • Evaluate power, cooling, and rack-level design assumptions and their resilience as silicon and workload requirements change.
  • Act as the technical counterpart to hyperscaler engineering and design teams and chip vendors on next-generation data center solutions.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships across the ecosystem to gain early visibility into design and technology shifts.
  • Evaluate and advise on productization and scaling strategy, identifying where supply-chain investment or manufacturing integration could create a durable edge.
  • Apply product and innovation experience to identify and anticipate new operating models and designs.

Benefits

  • Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on individual and team performance.
  • Reasonable accommodations are available as required by applicable law.
