About The Position

Goldman Sachs Services LLC is seeking a Vice President, Software Engineering in Dallas, Texas. This role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining database environments (SingleStore, MongoDB, Sybase, and Cloud) to support critical applications. The position requires developing and implementing best practices for database administration, including backup, recovery, monitoring, and performance optimization. A key aspect of the role is partnering with identity & access management and middleware engineering teams to integrate the latest security practices into the database ecosystem. The role also includes troubleshooting database issues, performing capacity planning, and assisting in the improvement of database release mechanisms and SDLC integration, with a focus on automated testing. Staying current with industry trends and recommending innovative solutions for the data platform are also essential. Additionally, the role requires designing, implementing, and maintaining robust testing suites for safe, complete, and scalable solutions across business lines.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and five (5) years of experience in job offered or a related role OR Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Information Systems or a related field and three (3) years of experience in job offered or a related role.
• Five (5) years with Bachelor’s OR three (3) years with Master’s with relational and NoSQL database technologies, including MySQL, SingleStore, DB2, MongoDB or Cassandra.
• Five (5) years with Bachelor’s OR three (3) years with Master’s with support and maintenance of SingleStore database environments.
• Five (5) years with Bachelor’s OR three (3) years with Master’s with distributed systems and Big Data platforms, including Hadoop (HDFS and YARN) and related data processing frameworks.
• Five (5) years with Bachelor’s OR three (3) years with Master’s with Python and Unix shell scripting for automation, monitoring, and ETL workflows.
• Five (5) years with Bachelor’s OR three (3) years with Master’s with event-driven architecture technologies such as Kafka.
• Five (5) years with Bachelor’s OR three (3) years with Master’s with database query languages, including SQL or NoSQL technologies, and database query tuning and optimization.
• Five (5) years with Bachelor’s OR three (3) years with Master’s with cloud infrastructure technologies such as AWS or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain SingleStore, MongoDB, Sybase and Cloud database environments.
• Develop and implement best practices for database administration, including backup and recovery strategies, monitoring, and performance optimization.
• Partner with identity & access management and middleware engineering teams to ensure data security needs are met.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Perform capacity planning and scalability assessments.
• Assist in driving improvements in database release mechanisms & SDLC process integration, including automated integration testing.
• Stay current with industry trends and advancements in database technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
• Design, implement and maintain robust testing suites for safe, complete, and scalable solutions.
