About The Position

The VP/SVP, Genomics & Data Science, is a scientific and strategic leader responsible for integrated computational, genomics, and data systems; therapeutic design; and support for discovery, translational development, and technology innovation. The role oversees cohesive scientific computation, molecular and genomic data generation, and interpretation and representation of high-dimensional data across the R&D organization. Reporting to the Chief Scientific Officer, this executive will grow a multidisciplinary team and partner across the organization to advance therapeutic understanding and development, translation, and differentiated technologies and scientific opportunities. The position is based at Stoke Therapeutics, currently in Bedford, Massachusetts, with the company moving to Waltham, Massachusetts, by the end of 2026. The role requires approximately 10% travel. Stoke supports flexibility in work arrangements while emphasizing periodic in-person work to foster collaboration and innovation.

Requirements

At least 12 years of progressively responsible experience leading quantitatively focused and multidisciplinary teams in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences industry.
Proven ability to build and lead high-performing integrated teams, develop talent, and balance enterprise priorities across efficiency, risk, and innovation.
Extensive experience in computational sciences, bioinformatics, genomic technologies, and related fields.
Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science, Genomics, Molecular Biology, or another related quantitative field.
Proven innovation, strategic thinking, problem-solving, cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and organizational skills.
Ability to build and sustain an inclusive, collaborative culture that supports innovation and continuous improvement.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical topics to varied audiences, present recommendations, and drive alignment with senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Ability to navigate and influence within a complex matrix organization.

Experience in computational sciences, bioinformatics, genomic technologies, and related fields in the context of genetic medicines and therapeutic development.

Responsibilities

Provide strategic and technical leadership across scientific computation, molecular and genomic functions, and therapeutic design, including organizational management and cross-functional engagement.
Mentor and grow a high-performing technical and scientific team, taking an enterprise perspective to data generation and interpretation, collaboration, and efficient execution of priorities.
Champion and oversee scientific computation and AI innovation, including multidimensional analytics, data representation and visualization, target insights, integration of genetics and internal and external data, and fit-for-purpose systems.
Lead therapeutic design, including exploration of next-generation approaches.
Establish and drive targeted genomics and molecular assays, including high-throughput approaches, model systems, and biomarker strategies to support development programs at all stages.
Identify external opportunities and collaborations to augment core capabilities.
Represent computational and molecular technologies and capabilities to internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, the board, and the Scientific Advisory Board, through presentations and publications.
