Within the Portfolio Valuation practice, clients include large hedge funds, private equity funds, direct lending funds, and business development companies, for whom the firm advises on the valuations of illiquid debt, equity, and complex securities to meet financial reporting requirements. The open position is for a Vice President based in the New York or Dallas office, dedicated to executing client engagements and growing Houlihan Lokey’s Portfolio Valuation and Fund Advisory (PV) practice. This role is within the Financial Valuation Advisory (FVA) practice, focusing on managing client engagement execution and building the PV practice. The PV-dedicated Vice President will be a fully integrated member of engagement teams, collaborating across a team of 30+ valuation professionals in 3 continents, and is also expected to cross-sell other firm service offerings.

Requirements

  • A minimum of six years of experience in financial services for Vice Presidents
  • Prior structured product valuation or related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced accounting, finance, financial modeling, and analytical abilities
  • Demonstrated experience managing Analysts/Associates or other personnel
  • Entrepreneurial attitude: desire and willingness to support a growing practice and contribute across the full suite of offerings
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and common database systems
  • Highly motivated with an exceptional work ethic and demonstrated ability and desire to work cooperatively with team members and client professionals

Nice To Haves

  • Big Four valuation and/or independent valuation consultants experience is a plus
  • Master’s degree or progress towards an advanced degree a plus
  • CFA designation a plus

Responsibilities

  • Leading business and financial due diligence sessions with clients
  • Providing leadership and guidance towards valuing structured and asset-backed investments
  • Leading the valuation review process
  • Directing the efforts of Associates and Financial Analysts
  • Presenting valuation analyses and conclusions internally and externally
  • Managing client deliverables
  • The ability to lead the building and reviewing of complex financial models (e.g., to value specific securities or transaction structures)
  • Assisting in quality control, execution, and industry consultation across the entire financial advisory services platform
  • Develop creative content, thought leadership and collaboration across service lines
  • Preparing fee proposals to clients, including scoping discussions, pitch materials and internal engagement pricing committee memoranda
  • Pitching engagements and leading in business development initiatives
  • Building relationships and maintaining direct contact with current and prospective clients
