About The Position

Reporting to the Executive Vice President, People & Culture, the Vice President, People & Culture (VP, P&C) is a senior enterprise leader responsible for setting and stewarding the organization’s people, culture, and leadership strategy with a strong emphasis on strategic foresight, enterprise thinking, and long‑term capability building. The role holistically connects business strategy, workforce capability, leadership, culture, and performance to drive sustainable enterprise results while directly leading the assigned business unit group of the People and Culture Director Leadership Team (HRDLT). Acting as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, the VP P&C influences boundaries, collaborates across the enterprise and external ecosystems, and ensures people strategies anticipate future business, and workforce needs.

Requirements

  • Post secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field preferred; HR designation preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including senior enterprise and Business Unit facing roles
  • Demonstrated experience in complex, multi-site and multi-jurisdictional (Canada, US and International) organizations.
  • Experience in unionized and safety-sensitive environments is preferred
  • Proven leadership through large-scale change, transformation or M&A and business integration.
  • Strategic and commercial acumen with a strong enterprise mindset and ability to think systemically and long‑term.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive enterprise results by connecting people, leadership, culture, and strategy.
  • Executive‑level influencing, coaching, and communication capabilities with the ability to lead across boundaries without formal authority.
  • Proven capability in building organizational and leadership capacity, developing enterprise talent, and collaborating across complex internal and external ecosystems.
  • Strong judgement in employee relations, ethics, and risk management; data‑driven decision making; and resilient change leadership in complex environments

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute enterprise people, culture, and leadership strategies aligned to business objectives.
  • Establish and govern BU P&C/HR policies, standards, and practices to ensure legal compliance, risk mitigation, and consistency in line with Enterprise strategy and values.
  • Support enterprise and lead BU talent management, succession planning, and leadership development frameworks.
  • Partner with Total Rewards leadership on compensation, benefits, incentive design, and pay practices.
  • Serve as the senior strategic P&C advisor to assigned BU Presidents and leadership teams aligning people, leadership, and culture strategies with business priorities.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to the P&C/HR Director Leadership team supporting the assigned business units.
  • Lead BU talent and leadership outcomes across succession planning, talent reviews, high performance identification, leadership development, and coaching for senior and critical roles.
  • Ensure adoption and effective execution of enterprise P&C programs, including performance management, leadership development, employee engagement, talent management, and inclusion initiatives.
  • Partner with BU leaders and enterprise functions to support workforce planning, manage complex labour relations matters, and lead change initiatives such as transformations, restructures and major system implementations.
  • Lead with foresight to align people and culture strategy with business priorities.
  • Connect enterprise talent, culture, and operations to drive results.
  • Build future-ready leadership, succession, and organizational capability.
  • Influence and collaborate across the organization to deliver scalable people solutions.
