We will also play a central role on the global stage, serving as the official voice of U.S. business in the Business 20 (B20), the private-sector counterpart to the G20. The Vice President of Operations is a senior, high-impact leadership role that amplifies the Chief Administrative Officer’s (CAO’s) effectiveness and accelerates delivery of the Chamber’s most consequential organizational priorities. The role connects strategy to execution and will drive measurable outcomes at a senior level across a complex, matrixed organization. As Vice President of Operations, you will serve as a strategic integrator and operator who coordinates strategy development, connects strategy to execution, and acts as the connective tissue between senior leadership and day-to-day operations. The role blends strategy and execution as well as cultural transformation. You will lead and/or architect several high-profile initiatives, including the following: An ambitious, multi-year strategic growth transformation, alongside the evolution of the organization’s ways of working. Establishment of a fit-for-purpose PMO model, designed to support enterprise initiatives, and scale AI-enabled workflows and operating systems. Management of the Center of Enterprise decision-making and regular engagement with the CEO, executive leadership, and board-level initiatives. The ideal candidate brings strong program management or consulting experience, executive communication and influence skills, structured problem solving, and the ability to drive impact through both strategy and operations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in management consulting, corporate strategy or operations, organizational transformation, or a chief of staff-style capacity.
  • Bachelor’s degree required and MBA or relevant graduate degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional, enterprise-scale initiatives with disciplined prioritization and measurable outcomes in complex or high-growth environments.
  • Excellent structured thinking and communication skills, including the ability to distill complexity into clear choices, concise narratives, and executive-ready materials.
  • Strong stakeholder leadership and influence in complex, matrixed environments. High emotional intelligence, judgment, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Proven ability to maintain judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information and executive communications.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CAO to translate the multiyear growth strategy into an executable enterprise roadmap with defined outcomes, sequencing, decision points, and accountability across leaders and functions.
  • Drive end-to-end management of the growth transformation portfolio, ensuring that initiatives and milestones are appropriately scoped, prioritized, resourced, and implemented on schedule.
  • Develop and maintain structured execution frameworks for the growth strategy, including initiative tracking, dashboards, and performance metrics that provide leadership visibility into progress, risks, and outcomes.
  • Serve as the coordination point between internal teams, senior leadership, and external stakeholders.
  • Design and implement a fit-for-purpose PMO model aligned with the U.S. Chamber’s operating environment and strategic priorities.
  • Lead elements of operational alignment and modernization, including resource optimization assessments and the integration of AI tools in partnership with functional leaders.
  • Manage the CAO’s operating cadence and represent the CAO in select forums, advancing priorities and ensuring continuity of execution.
  • Act as a strategic partner and problem solver for senior leadership, including operations, finance, HR, technology, policy, membership, and communications.
  • Draft high-level memos, presentations, and communication updates that reflect leadership priorities.
