About The Position

Set and communicate the enterprise engineering strategy aligned to business objectives, risk posture, and regulatory expectations. Lead multiple directors and senior managers; establish operating rhythms, governance, and decision-making across portfolios. Own multi-year roadmaps for modernization (cloud adoption, platform engineering, data/AI enablement, legacy rationalization). Partner with Product, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, and Compliance to ensure delivery readiness and auditability. Oversee delivery of large programs across lines of business, ensuring predictable execution, quality, and measurable outcomes. Manage budgets, vendor strategy, sourcing, and capacity planning; optimize spend while improving throughput. Establish organizational standards for SDLC, DevSecOps, incident management, and operational excellence. Drive talent strategy including hiring, succession planning, leadership development, and culture-building.

Requirements

  • Executive-level leadership in enterprise software engineering, with strong financial/regulatory domain understanding (SOX, SOC, PCI, FFIEC, internal audits).
  • Strong architecture fluency across distributed systems, microservices, APIs, event-driven design, and integration patterns.
  • Deep experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), platform engineering, CI/CD, observability, and resiliency engineering.
  • Proven ability to lead transformations that improve security posture, availability, and delivery velocity.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication; ability to translate strategy into execution.
  • Strong financial acumen: budgeting, forecasting, ROI analysis, vendor negotiation, and investment prioritization.
  • Organizational design and change management expertise; builds high-performing, inclusive teams.
  • The successful candidate will be credentialed in applicable areas of expertise (i.e. law, accounting, tax, product/services) with at least ten years of relevant experience in the field or industry.
  • Must have strengths in leadership and management from a strategic perspective.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, collaborative with internal groups to reach workable solutions, able to anticipate problems, creatively assess alternatives and manage conflicts.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years in software/technology, with 7+ years leading leaders (managers/directors) and large portfolios.

  • Lead proofs-of-concept and portfolio experiments to validate new technologies and de-risk strategic bets.
  • Coach directors and senior managers on strategy execution, organizational health, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Develop leadership pipelines through mentorship, targeted development plans, and succession planning.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Sponsor communities of practice and knowledge-sharing across engineering disciplines.
