About The Position

This position is accountable for providing Synergy Services clients with quality professional services through the youth programs. Youth programs include Synergy House emergency shelter, Transitional Living Program, Maternity Group Home, Street Outreach and Youth Resiliency Center. Accountable for the development, oversight, compliance, evaluation, and integration of all aspects of the youth programs. Provides assistance, support, training and management coaching to managers of the youth programs.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree in social work or a comparable human service field and at least two years of direct care experience in human services; or a bachelor’s degree in social work or a comparable human service field and at least four years of direct care experience in human services.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • A Valid Class E Drivers license.
  • Ability to drive up to fifteen (15) passengers in a van.
  • Ability to type and perform Data Entry/10 key, and must be able to use computer software, including Windows, Word, Excel and Access.
  • Must be at least 20 years of age.
  • Pass a background check and Family Care Safety Registry screening, fingerprint screen, drug screen, physical and have a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Position requires CPR, Med Tech Certification and Chauffeur’s License within 30 days from the date of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and builds workforce based on program goals, budget considerations, and staffing needs; ensures employees are appropriately recruited, selected, appraised, and rewarded.
  • Develops the ability of supervisees to perform and contribute to the program by providing ongoing feedback and formal and informal learning opportunities; coaches, models, and mentors staff and interns.
  • Contributes to the Agency's Performance and Quality Improvement (PQI) Plan for Creating a Healthy Workplace Culture. Vice President helps create this culture by holding themselves and Youth Services staff accountable to Synergy’s CORE Values and by supporting and implementing initiatives of the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) and Trauma Informed Care (TIC) programs.
  • Conducts weekly Program Manager supervision.
  • Oversees completion of evaluations.
  • Provides assistance, intervention and problem solving with employee matters.
  • Takes action to address performance problems.

  • Accountable for oversight of the agency's youth’s programs, and in association with the CEO, manages program evaluation, development, enhancement and expansion within the agency. This includes the strategic analysis of new programs and projects and how they relate to the agency's mission, vision, and continuum of care.
  • Supervises the development and updating of standard operating procedures (SOPS), budget, finances, personnel, planning, research, training, outcome development and measurement, statistical information, interdepartmental communication, staff relations, and program integration for the youth programs.
  • Reviews and rates critical incident reports.
  • Demonstrate responsible fiscal management of program.
  • Demonstrate responsible grant management of the program including outcome expectations, opportunities, timelines, and reporting.
  • Reviews all grant and contract reports before they are submitted. Oversees federal reporting for HUD and HHS including the HMIS database.
  • Develop innovative programming and response to client and systemic needs.
  • Make effective use of technology including documentation, reporting, and evaluation of productivity.
  • Prepares for on-site monitoring visits and ensures programs are in compliance.
  • Act as liaison in coordinating work with schools and community partners.
  • Attends monthly VP meetings. Consults regularly with other VPs regarding agency activities, challenges, and opportunities as well as overall agency management.
  • Speaks on behalf of the agency and the program services division to the various agency stakeholders.
  • Represents the agency on boards, professional associations, community task forces, local, state and national committees and tasks forces, speaks at seminars, and oversees agency's licensing and funding reviews. Attends conferences and development workshops as required for professional and organizational development and accreditation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Manages three supervisors who supervise a total of 35+ employees in the youth programs.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
