The primary function of the Vice President (VP) is to drive sales and profitability for the North American (NA) MTI Pet Care group. The VP will oversee approximately $270M of sales in NA, and sales consist mostly of finished goods private label private label cat litter to retail partners, as well as supply of bulk cat litter to the national brands in NA. The position will work closely with the Pet Care Marketing, R&D, Finance, Customer Service, and Operations groups. Furthermore, the VP will need to be aligned with MTI resource unites, such as Supply Chain/Logistics, and HR. The VP will lead a team of approximately seven people consisting of sales managers, sales analytics manager, replenishment, and product managers. The VP will ultimately be responsible for carrying out strategic account plans for key accounts and potential new accounts. . The individual selected for this role will work with the Global BU President, and possibly other leadership, with delivering on the targeted growth projections

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) is required
  • Strong financial acumen related to income statements, returns on capex investments, cost statements, etc.
  • The VP will possess transformational leadership skills demonstrated by their ability to inspire and lead a team.
  • The VP will possess and demonstrate a bias for action and achievement. They will have the capability and willingness to be held personally accountable for the performance of their team. They will also demonstrate the capacity to communicate a sense of urgency and to inspire those around them.
  • The VP must possess the skills necessary to coalesce an organization and personally lead changes that support strategic business objectives and direction.
  • The VP will demonstrate superb communication, presentation, contract negotiation and influencing skills (written and verbal) as well as a demonstrated ability to drive complex processes to successful outcomes.
  • The VP will possess ten (10) years or more years of managing sales and business functions within a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or technical/engineering is a requirement.
  • Travel - up to 35%-50% of time. This would include regional and some international locations.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and passport.

Responsibilities

  • The VP will establish and build a strong relationship within their team. The VP will be responsible for engaging, motivating and inspiring their team through effective and continuous communication, coaching, training and skill development.
  • The VP will have, as a primary responsibility, to share and analyze data collected by the commercial team to drive the growth of the business.
  • The VP will assume the responsibility for managing the weekly forecast, working closely with the BU finance team/controller
  • The VP will be ultimately responsible for achieving strong Voice of Customer (VOC) that will lead to increased innovation and sales for strategic accounts.
  • The VP will be responsible for understanding business development opportunities and capital projects that will lead to continued growth.
  • The VP will demonstrate and lead the business in a manner consistent with MTI Values and Transformational Rules for Leaders, as well as the key initiative areas of Safety/EHS, Operational Excellence, Expense Reduction and Technology & Innovation.
  • The VP will be responsible for managing, supporting and achieving Operational Excellence and Lean goals and initiatives through the utilization of the following: Suggestions, Gemba, 5S, Lean Events, Coaching for Continuous Improvement, Leader Standard Work, Visual Management, Kanban, VOC, Standard Work and Quality Management System.
  • The VP will be responsible for working with the technical team to develop and commercialize new technologies to satisfy customer needs identified by Voice of the Customer activities and commercial relationships and interactions with customers.
  • Environmental, Health and Safety considerations are paramount at MTI and the individual selected for this role will be accountable for establishing a robust Safety Culture and delivering 100% Compliance with all EHS policies and programs with Zero Injuries & Zero Environmental Releases.
