Aubuchon Company is seeking an experienced Vice President of Sales and Operations to lead the sales and operational performance of our retail organization. This executive role is responsible for more than 140 retail locations, 2,500+ team members, and over $350 million in annual sales. Reporting to the COO, this leader will oversee six Regional Directors of Sales and Operations and have overall accountability for retail sales growth, profitability, operational execution, leadership development, and continued expansion of the business. The ideal candidate is a highly accountable and metrics-driven leader who is equally committed to people development, customer service, and building strong teams. This leader must be comfortable setting enterprise strategy while remaining highly connected to our stores, customers, and local markets.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible multi-unit retail leadership experience, including significant leadership of geographically dispersed teams.
  • Proven experience leading substantial sales volume, operating budgets, and P&L performance.
  • Demonstrated success growing sales, improving profitability, and strengthening operational performance.
  • Strong experience developing senior field leaders and building high-performing teams.
  • Strong financial and analytical skills with the ability to translate business data into action.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and executive leadership experience.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 50%, including overnight travel throughout the Company's operating footprint.
  • Regular access to the Company's Support Center in Westminster, Massachusetts required.

  • Experience with acquisitions, integrations, new store openings, remodels, relocations, or significant business growth strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Company's overall retail sales and operations strategy across 140+ locations.
  • Own retail sales performance and drive sustainable growth in sales, customer count, average transaction, gross margin, payroll productivity, and profitability.
  • Lead, coach, and develop six Regional Directors of Sales and Operations, establishing clear expectations and accountability for business performance.
  • Analyze company, regional, store, customer, and market trends to identify opportunities and develop strategies to improve results.
  • Partner with the Vice President of Commercial Sales to expand B2B, Pro, contractor, and commercial sales opportunities throughout the retail network.
  • Cultivate new business opportunities and stay current on customer needs, competitive activity, industry trends, and emerging markets.
  • Partner with the COO and executive leadership team in developing annual sales, payroll, expense, and profitability plans.
  • Drive consistent operational execution while balancing company standards with the needs and opportunities of individual markets.
  • Partner across Merchandising, Marketing, Human Resources, Finance, IT, Supply Chain, and other Support Center functions to execute company initiatives.
  • Build a strong pipeline of future Regional Directors, Store Leaders, and other key operating leaders through coaching, development, and succession planning.
  • Play a key leadership role in the Company's acquisition and growth strategy, including due diligence, operational and leadership assessments, integration planning, and post-acquisition performance.
  • Lead and support new store openings, remodels, relocations, conversions, and acquired-store integrations.
  • Spend significant time visiting stores and markets to understand business conditions firsthand, identify opportunities, support leaders, and strengthen customer and community relationships.
