About The Position

The Vice President of Revenue Cycle Management – Home Care (VP - RCM) provides strategic and operational leadership for all revenue cycle functions across the organization’s home-based care platforms. This executive leads end-to-end revenue cycle operations—including intake, eligibility, coding, billing, collections, denial management, cash posting, and payer relations—to ensure compliant, efficient, and optimized revenue realization. As a key leader within a publicly traded healthcare organization, the VP - RCM is accountable for driving sustainable cash flow, improving financial performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining strong internal controls consistent with SOX requirements. The role partners closely with Finance, Accounting, Operations, Clinical Leadership, Compliance, IT, and external auditors to support growth, accuracy, and transparency in financial reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, Accounting or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, with at least 3 years in home care or post-acute settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of home health and hospice billing, including Medicare Conditions of Participation and OASIS documentation.
  • Strong understanding of payer contracting, denial management, and reimbursement methodologies specific to home care.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Public company, SOX, and audit experience required.
  • Experience with home care EMR/RCM systems (e.g., Homecare Homebase, WellSky, MatrixCare).

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute revenue cycle strategies tailored to home care services, including Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Advantage, private insurance, and self-pay.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on revenue performance, reimbursement risk, regulatory changes, and operational improvement opportunities.
  • Partner with operational leadership to develop strategies that can be applied at the local operations level to achieve financial objectives, growth initiatives and payer mix optimization.
  • Collaboration with operational leadership to implement revenue cycle best practices.
  • Lead revenue cycle integration and standardization efforts related to acquisitions and de novo expansions.
  • Provide direct oversight of intake, insurance verification, coding, billing, accounts receivable, collections, denial management, and cash posting.
  • Establish and monitor key KPIs such as Days Sales Outstanding, clean claim rate, denial rates, and net revenue yield.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS, Medicare, Medicaid, payer contracts, and applicable regulations.
  • Partner with Compliance and Internal Audit to maintain SOX-compliant internal controls and oversee payer audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Drive predictable cash flow and collaborate with Accounting to ensure accurate revenue recognition, reserves, and reporting.
  • Deliver actionable insights and reporting to executive leadership.
  • Lead the optimization of EMR, billing platforms and other RCM tools that support home care workflows and remote operations.
  • Champion data-driven process improvement, automation, and scalable workflows.
  • Build and manage a high-performing RCM team.
  • Provide training and professional development focused on home care billing and compliance.
  • Work closely with clinical operations, IT, and finance to ensure alignment of revenue cycle goals with patient care and organizational objectives.
