About The Position

The Vice President of Power Supply provides executive leadership for the Ozarks Electric's power supply portfolio, including resource planning, wholesale power strategy market operations and contract management. This position is responsible for ensuring the Cooperative maintains cost-effective, and resilient power supply while supporting the Cooperative's long-term strategic and financial objectives. This role serves as the senior advisor on wholesale power matters and works closely with executive leadership to evaluate market opportunities, contractual relationships, resource alternatives, and industry developments that maximize value for the Cooperative and its members. This positions reports to the Chief Business Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, finance, business, or related field required.
  • Ten or more years of progressive experience in power supply, energy markets, trading, or resource planning.
  • Five or more years in senior leadership or executive roles.
  • Experience participating in organized wholesale electricity markets required.
  • Deep expertise in wholesale power markets, resource planning, and utility portfolio management.
  • Strong background in risk management, hedging, and financial modeling.
  • Executive-level leadership, negotiation, and strategic decision-making ability.
  • Ability to translate complex market and technical concepts for executive and board audiences.
  • Executive accountability for the Cooperative's power supply portfolio and long-term strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex mark, operational and financial issues.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and executive communication skills.
  • Ability to lead through changing market conditions while maintaining focus on reliability and affordability.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under company policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • Certifications in energy markets or risk management desirable.
  • Experience with electric cooperatives and Generation & Transmission (G&T) organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide executive leadership for the Cooperative's wholesale power activities and organized market participation.
  • Oversee wholesale settlements, market analytics and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor industry and market developments and represent the Cooperative in regional market organizations and stakeholder forums as appropriate.
  • Lead integrated resource planning, load forecasting, and long-term power supply planning.
  • Evaluate supply alternatives, contractual arrangements, market opportunities, and emerging technologies to ensure reliable and cost-effective service.
  • Develop recommendations that align with the Cooperatives strategic and financial goals.
  • Direct procurement, optimization, and risk management of wholesale power supply.
  • Provide oversight of wholesale power procurement, supplier relationships, contractual obligations, and power supply agreements.
  • Lead negotiations and support execution of purchased power arrangements while optimizing the Cooperative's overall power supply portfolio.
  • Collaborate with Finance & Accounting to establish commodity risk management policies and controls.
  • Lead forecasting, scenario analysis, and market monitoring.
  • Ensure robust risk reporting and governance.
  • Monitor market conditions and recommend strategies that balance cost, reliability, and risk.
  • Evaluate generation resources, purchased power alternatives, storage technologies, demand-side resources, transmission opportunities, and other emerging solutions that may enhance the Cooperative's long-term power supply strategy.
  • Support due diligence for potential investments, partnerships, and contractual opportunities.
  • Support rate design, cost-of-service studies, and long-term forecasting.
  • Partner with Finance & Accounting on budgeting, capital planning, and credit metrics.
  • Align power supply strategy with enterprise financial objectives and member value.
  • Lead and develop power supply and analytics teams.
  • Present recommendations to executive leadership and the Board.
  • Represent the Cooperative with SPP, G&T partners, regulators, and industry groups.
  • Support board policy development on power supply and risk strategy.
  • Maintain key external industry relationships.
