About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the VP of Finance is a senior member of the finance leadership team with ownership of accounting, controllership, treasury, and tax. This leader will build the financial infrastructure, processes, systems, and controls required to support a rapidly growing and increasingly complex organization. The role calls for technical accounting depth paired with hands-on operational leadership: ensuring the integrity and timeliness of financial reporting, strengthening the close and the internal control environment, preparing the organization for the reporting and governance requirements that accompany a potential IPO or strategic exit, and developing the finance and accounting team. Success requires someone who can raise the bar on process and control while remaining close enough to the detail to ensure high-quality execution.

Requirements

  • Significant accounting and controllership leadership, spanning financial reporting, close processes, accounting policies, and internal controls, with strong technical accounting capability.
  • Direct treasury responsibility, including cash management, liquidity forecasting, payment controls, and banking relationships.
  • Ownership of the corporate tax function, including compliance, the tax provision, and the management of outside tax advisors.
  • Track record of improving financial processes, systems, and controls in a scaling organization, and of working effectively with external auditors.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop finance professionals while establishing clear accountability and high standards for execution.
  • Ability to partner with senior and cross-functional leaders, translating financial information into clear implications and actions.

Nice To Haves

  • Public company experience, or experience preparing an organization for an IPO, strategic transaction, or comparable step-up in reporting and control requirements.
  • ASC 740 provision experience and familiarity with multi-state tax matters, including nexus arising from a distributed workforce, and research and development credits.
  • Life sciences, diagnostics, healthcare, or another regulated and operationally complex environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting and controllership function, with responsibility for accurate, timely financial reporting and the integrity of the company's financial records.
  • Own and improve the monthly, quarterly, and annual close; strengthen the internal control environment, accounting policies, and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee technical accounting matters and manage an efficient, well-controlled external audit.
  • Lead treasury, including daily cash management, liquidity forecasting, payment controls, and cash reporting to the CFO and Board.
  • Own the company's commercial banking relationships, account structure, and cash investment policy.
