About The Position

Vesta Corporation is seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Facilities to lead facilities operations across our growing portfolio. This executive leader will oversee capital planning, asset preservation, compliance, risk management, and operational excellence while developing high-performing teams and modernizing facilities practices through technology-forward solutions. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, results-driven leader with deep experience in multi-site facilities management, capital projects, regulatory inspections, and cross-functional partnership with senior leadership. While the preferred work location is the main office in Weatogue, CT, we welcome and will consider qualified candidates who are able to work remotely.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Must have 12+ years of progressive experience in facilities maintenance, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Successful completion of a background check and drug screening required.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record required.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to inspire, develop, and hold teams accountable.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills; able to translate organizational goals into operational execution.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present effectively to senior leadership, ownership groups, and external partners.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of facilities management principles, building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC), and capital project management.
  • Strong financial acumen; experienced in budget development, capital planning, and cost management.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks including NSPIRE, state agency inspections, and HUD requirements.
  • Proven ability to manage complex, multi-site operations and deliver results under pressure.
  • Self-directed and entrepreneurial; comfortable operating in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
  • Excellent computer and system knowledge: literacy in Microsoft suite and common industry adopted management information systems.
  • Displays integrity, sound judgment, and a high standard of professional ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Establish facilities management policies, standards, and best practices to ensure consistency and operational excellence across all Vesta-owned and managed properties.
  • Develop and own a multi-year capital improvement and facilities strategy aligned with portfolio growth and long-term asset preservation goals.
  • Identify and implement responsible, scalable cost-saving measures and operational efficiencies throughout the portfolio.
  • Embrace property management technology and preventative maintenance platforms to modernize/streamline operations.
  • Lead the planning, budgeting, and execution of capital improvement projects, renovations, and property management initiatives across the portfolio.
  • Develop scopes of work for capital projects; oversee the competitive bid process and negotiate vendor and service contracts.
  • Oversee facility procurement, including inventory, equipment, and supply chain across all properties.
  • Conduct due diligence assessments for property acquisitions.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing facilities team, including Director of Facilities and Regional Maintenance Managers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, and evaluate performance of direct reports; establish succession planning within the facilities function.
  • Coordinate training for staff to ensure consistent application of maintenance standards, record keeping, inspection protocols, and safety procedures.
  • Implement risk management strategy for physical assets, including coordination with insurance carriers and internal partners.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, safety regulations, fire and life safety systems, and local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Lead preparation and strategy for all third-party inspections including NSPIRE, MOR, state finance agency, and mortgagor/investor inspections; communicate assessment and corrective action plans.
  • Oversee implementation and monitoring of preventative maintenance programs across all sites.
  • Present facilities performance metrics, capital expenditure forecasts, and risk assessments as needed.
  • Manage key vendor and contractor relationships, ensuring performance standards and contract compliance.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for facility operations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
