About The Position

TechnoMile is seeking a VP, Engineering to join our Engineering leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Product and Technology Officer, you'll be the operational backbone of our Engineering organization: the leader who turns roadmap ambition into shipped, high-quality software. This role is first and foremost about leadership — building and growing a strong team, instilling process and operational discipline, and driving consistent execution across our US and India engineering teams. All Product Engineering, Platform, QA, DevOps, and Cloud Operations teams report into this role, making you accountable end-to-end for how we plan, build, test, and operate everything we ship. Deep engineering expertise is table stakes for earning the team's trust and making sound technical tradeoffs, but your primary focus will be leading, not building. You'll partner closely with Product and company leadership to prioritize the roadmap, translate priorities into clear execution plans across geographically distributed teams, and hold the organization accountable to delivering on its commitments. We believe this role is perfect for a process-minded engineering leader who gets energy from building strong teams and watching them deliver consistently, rather than from being the most senior individual contributor in the room. As part of a company that's building AI-enabled products, we're looking for someone who is comfortable using AI tools to enhance their own work and accelerate outcomes. You'll be part of a culture that values experimentation, continuous learning, and finding smarter ways to solve problems. This role is open to candidates located in Washington, DC metro area and is hybrid role reporting to our office in Tysons Corner, VA, typically 2-3 days onsite, as needed.

Requirements

  • 15+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years in senior engineering leadership role managing managers across multiple teams, ideally including distributed or offshore teams.
  • Demonstrated track record of building, growing, and retaining strong engineering teams, with a genuine passion for developing people over writing code.
  • Strong command of engineering process and delivery methodologies (Agile/Kanban), with experience instilling planning cadences, metrics, and accountability across teams that didn't previously have them.
  • Proven ability to prioritize a roadmap against business goals and drive it to completion across multiple teams and time zones.
  • A strong engineering background (full-stack development and cloud-native architecture) sufficient to earn the team's trust and make sound technical tradeoffs, even though the role is leadership-first.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to represent Engineering clearly and credibly to executive leadership.
  • Hands-on experience using generative AI and automation tools to boost productivity, and sound judgment when to lean on AI versus human insight.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading engineering organizations split across the U.S. and India or other global delivery centers.
  • Experience in a B2B SaaS company, ideally serving the GovCon, federal, or regulated enterprise market.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO), Jira, or similar delivery-tracking platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow, and develop the Engineering organization, building a strong bench of managers and technical leads across US and India teams.
  • Prioritize and align the roadmap with Product and company leadership, translating business priorities into a clear, sequenced execution plan.
  • Drive consistent execution across distributed US and India teams, ensuring work is scoped, tracked, and delivered against commitments.
  • Establish and enforce engineering processes and operational discipline: planning cadences, delivery metrics, definition of done, and clear accountability for outcomes.
  • Own delivery predictability across the organization: tracking release cadence and on-time delivery against commitments, and surfacing risks to timelines before they land.
  • Identify and resolve execution bottlenecks before they impact delivery timelines, partnering with managers, and leading to unblock teams.
  • Coach and develop engineering managers and senior ICs, building clear career paths and a strong leadership bench beneath you.
  • Own headcount planning and recruiting strategy for Engineering, in partnership with People and Talent Acquisition.
  • Represent Engineering to executive leadership, providing clear, data-driven status on roadmap progress, risks, and tradeoffs.
  • Make sound technical and architectural tradeoffs when needed, drawing on your own engineering background to guide the team's technical direction.
  • Partner with Product and Customer Delivery to ensure engineering priorities reflect customer and business needs, while directly overseeing Platform, QA, DevOps, and Cloud Operations to keep delivery predictable end-to-end.
  • Identify opportunities to embed AI into engineering workflows to improve velocity, quality, and team efficiency.

  • Unlimited PTO
  • 401(k) match
  • Health coverage with employer-paid or employer-contributed HSA options
  • An annual professional development allowance
