About The Position

As Vice-President of Engineering, you will own the full engineering stack that brings Ponsera’s technology to market — from plasma reactor design and power electronics through embedded firmware, fluidics, and mechanical packaging. You will build and lead the multidisciplinary team that turns proven science into manufacturable, reliable products, and you will drive the engineering discipline and processes that enable scale.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Systems Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, including 4+ years in an engineering leadership role (Engineering Manager, Director, or VP).
  • Demonstrated track record of shipping hardware products — from prototype through volume manufacturing.
  • Hands-on depth in at least two of Ponsera’s core domains: plasma/electrochemical systems, power electronics, embedded electronics/firmware, or fluidic/mechanical systems.
  • Strong systems engineering mindset: able to architect across hardware, firmware, and process subsystems.
  • Experience building and scaling multidisciplinary engineering teams at an early-stage or growth-stage company.
  • Excellent communication — able to engage credibly with engineers, executives, partners, and regulators.
  • Entrepreneurial, high-ownership mindset with the ability to prioritise under uncertainty.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with plasma reactor engineering or electrochemical / electrolysis systems.
  • Background in cleantech, water treatment, food safety, or medical device manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with EMC/CE/UL certification processes.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and managing supply chains for complex electromechanical products.
  • Bilingual (English / French).

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the engineering roadmap, translating Ponsera’s technology strategy into concrete milestones, resource plans, and delivery commitments.
  • Lead system-level design and integration across plasma reactor, power electronics, embedded electronics/firmware, fluidic, and mechanical subsystems.
  • Drive products from prototype through DVT, pilot production, and volume manufacturing — maintaining quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Establish and enforce rigorous design review, test, and validation processes (DFMEA, DVP&R, design-for-manufacture).
  • Own the engineering interface with contract manufacturers and key suppliers.
  • Maintain hands-on technical authority across Ponsera’s core engineering domains: Plasma Reactor Engineering, Power Electronics, Embedded Electronics & Firmware, Fluidic & Mechanical Systems, Mechanical Design & Packaging, Materials Engineering (advisory), Test & Validation Engineering (advisory).
  • Hire, mentor, and retain a high-performing engineering team; define roles, career paths, and performance expectations.
  • Instil a culture of engineering rigour, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration with operations, commercial, and science teams.
  • Lead the transition from lab-scale and pilot systems to scalable, cost-optimised manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with operations on technology transfer, process qualification, and supplier qualification.
  • Drive yield improvement and reliability through structured process engineering.
  • Ensure products meet relevant safety, regulatory, and certification requirements (electrical safety, sanitation norms, food-safety certifications).
  • Maintain robust engineering documentation and design records.
  • Work with leadership on IP strategy and protection of core engineering innovations.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the product lifecycle.
