About The Position

Lunar Resources is seeking an experienced defense leader to guide the company’s engagement with U.S. and international defense organizations, develop strategic defense programs and products, and help translate advanced engineering capabilities into solutions for demanding operational environments. This role is intended for a proven leader with international experience who can operate credibly across military, government, engineering, and executive environments. Strong candidates may come from senior officer and non-commissioned officer leadership, military technical communities, defense industry, or executive-level positions supporting national security organizations. The Vice President of Defense will lead Lunar Resources’ defense business including strategy, sales, customer engagement, operational partnerships, and defense-focused business. The individual will be a senior leader work closely with other company leadership and engineering teams to identify mission requirements, develop trusted relationships with defense stakeholders, and support the responsible deployment of advanced technologies. The ideal candidate combines operational credibility with technical understanding and executive judgment. They should be equally comfortable speaking with soldiers and operators, engineers and program managers, senior military leaders, government officials, and representatives of foreign ministries of defense.

Requirements

  • Significant military leadership experience, including service as a senior officer, non-commissioned officer, warrant officer, commissioned officer, or equivalent operational leader; or substantial executive leadership experience within the defense or national security sector.
  • Direct experience training, advising, or supporting military personnel and operational units.
  • Experience working with foreign militaries, ministries of defense, or other international government organizations.
  • Meaningful international experience, particularly in environments requiring diplomacy, cultural awareness, and independent judgment.
  • Experience with counter-UAS, air defense, force protection, autonomous systems, electronic systems, sensing, robotics, or adjacent defense technology areas.
  • An engineering, technical, or applied-science background, or substantial professional experience working closely with complex engineering organizations.
  • Experience converting operational problems into technical requirements and communicating those requirements effectively to engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs involving multiple government, military, technical, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Strong executive communication skills and the ability to build credibility at both the operator and senior-leadership levels.
  • A track record of operating effectively in high-trust, high-consequence environments where discretion is essential.
  • Candidates must be able to satisfy applicable U.S. government and company requirements associated with defense-related work. Certain projects or responsibilities may be subject to export-control, citizenship, security, or other government requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the company’s defense and national security strategy.
  • Build trusted relationships with U.S. and allied defense organizations, military leadership, government agencies, and international defense partners.
  • Serve as the senior company representative in engagements with ministries of defense and other government stakeholders.
  • Translate operational requirements into clear priorities for engineering and product teams.
  • Support the development, evaluation, and fielding of advanced defense technologies, including capabilities relevant to counter-uncrewed aerial systems and related mission areas.
  • Design and oversee training, demonstration, evaluation, and operational-support programs for defense users.
  • Work directly with soldiers, operators, instructors, and technical personnel to understand real-world mission needs and incorporate feedback into company priorities.
  • Lead international defense engagements while navigating differences in military structures, procurement environments, cultures, and operating practices.
  • Support strategic partnerships with defense primes, technology companies, government organizations, and other mission partners.
  • Provide executive leadership on defense programs while maintaining appropriate discretion regarding customers, technologies, and operational activities.
  • Represent Lunar Resources at selected defense, government, industry, and international engagements.
