Vice President of Asset Management & Operations (National Portfolio)

Mon Ami Real EstateOrange, CA
$150,000 - $200,000Hybrid

About The Position

Mon Ami Real Estate is a value-driven investor-operator specializing in sub-$20 million retail and industrial properties across the United States. The firm focuses on the overlooked middle market, targeting assets with intrinsic value and clear opportunities for operational improvement and value creation. Over the past 15 years, Mon Ami has acquired more than 350 properties across 30+ states and currently manages a portfolio exceeding $400 million in assets. The firm's success is built on disciplined acquisitions, entrepreneurial thinking, and a hands-on approach to asset management. Unlike many institutional real estate firms, Mon Ami is highly action-oriented. The team excels in complex, time-sensitive transactions where it can identify opportunities others overlook, close quickly and reliably, and execute business plans internally. Team members have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working directly with senior leadership on acquisitions, operations, and value creation initiatives. This is a senior leadership role with a clear path toward broader operational authority. The VP of Asset Management & Operations will own performance across our larger national assets. Equally important, this person will be the architect of the systems, reporting structures, and accountability frameworks that allow us to scale. This is not a role for someone who manages from a desk. We need someone who walks properties, challenges assumptions, drives leasing and capital decisions, and builds a platform that didn’t fully exist before they arrived. Long-term, this individual has a genuine path to a COO-level role overseeing operations across both divisions of the company. That growth is available but it has to be earned through execution.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of commercial real estate experience, with direct asset management responsibility across multiple asset classes
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio, not just advise one, you’ve owned outcomes, not just reported on them
  • Strong financial acumen: you read a rent roll and a P&L the same way, looking for what’s wrong
  • Systems thinker who can design process and infrastructure, not just manage within existing ones
  • Comfortable traveling frequently across a national portfolio
  • Entrepreneurial, decisive, and willing to be held accountable
  • Leadership presence: you can manage up, manage down, and manage vendors simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Lead asset-level business plans, value creation initiatives, and performance accountability across the national portfolio
  • Drive leasing strategy, occupancy, collections, and operating performance
  • Review and own budgets, financial reporting, variance analysis, and capital plans
  • Visit properties regularly, identify underperformance, opportunities, and operational gaps firsthand
  • Manage and hold accountable property managers, vendors, and consultants
  • Oversee capital projects and major maintenance initiatives in partnership with the Director of Engineering
  • Support acquisitions, refinancings, and dispositions including lender interactions and due diligence
  • Build the operational systems, reporting dashboards, and accountability processes that currently don’t exist at scale
  • Help design and implement a scalable operating platform across the organization
