Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent progressive experience may be considered.
  • 5-10 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • High attention to detail combined with sound judgment and a strong ethical foundation.
  • A strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience managing month‑end and year‑end close processes.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to credit unions or financial institutions.
  • The ability to analyze financial data and clearly communicate results to non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Experience working with auditors, examiners, and third‑party partners.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems and financial software.
  • A continuous‑improvement mindset and comfort leading process enhancements.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Credit union or financial institution experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, fixed assets, investments, accounts payable, and month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and financial procedures.
  • Oversee preparation and submission of regulatory reports, including NCUA Call Reports and other required filings.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing financial forecasting activities.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team to support strategic planning, organizational growth, and decision-making.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and financial results.
  • Support Asset Liability Management (ALM) reporting, liquidity analysis, and risk management activities.
  • Serve as the primary contact for auditors, examiners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop, coach, and support accounting team members.
