About The Position

Reporting to the President, the Vice President Medical Operations (VPMO) will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The VPMO will develop, enhance, and evolve Oak Valley Health’s clinical programs and services through strengthening the organization’s investment in physician engagement and leadership. In addition, the VP will work in close collaboration with the SLT as it relates to building internal capacity, leveraging system partnerships, and achieving exemplary clinical excellence and patient-centered care, while investing time to coach, mentor, and guide both the current and future generation of medical leaders. The VPMO will work in close partnership with the Vice President Clinical Services, Chief Nursing Executive (CNE), and the Chief of Staff (COS) to ensure physicians and hospital staff work collaboratively to improve quality, safety, efficiency, and the overall patient experience. The VPMO will be a physician in the Active Staff category at the hospital, and will be expected to serve in their administrative capacity 2-3 days/week separate of their clinical service.

Requirements

  • You are an experienced, inclusive, and visionary leader with credentials and experience in both medical leadership and clinical practice
  • You are firm, fair, and highly regarded in your field of medical practice and have a breadth of medical leadership experience in formal leadership roles
  • Knowledge in both the clinical and administrative environments, you understand the needs of physicians in hospitals, and can support them in change management and opportunities for integrated care
  • You possess superb interpersonal, communication (oral and written), negotiation and change management skills and have a history of providing leadership to and team building with professional and clinical staff
  • Recognized as an effective change leader and successful in building relationships, you have demonstrated your commitment to quality improvement and broader systems-level change
  • You encompass Oak Valley Health’s core values and live the words of respect, trust, commitment, compassion and courage
  • You are a patient and/or client centered individual who performs at an exemplary standard
  • You are a team player with excellent communication, critical thinking and prioritization skills
  • The VPMO will be a physician in the Active Staff category at the hospital

Responsibilities

  • Provide inspiration, direction and support for Medical Leadership and professional staff in a range of activities related to quality improvement, clinical service planning, academic endeavors, physician recruitment and retention.
  • As part of the Senior Leadership Team, co-lead transformative initiatives including strategic planning, partnerships/integration opportunities, academic activities. and continuous quality improvement across the continuum of the patient journey.
  • Partner and build relationships with internal and external providers, clinicians, teams, stakeholders, and leaders to ensure optimal team performance and the provision of the highest quality and safest care to patients and families.
  • Continue to support and empower a physician engagement and participation strategy that reinforces diversity, inclusivity, accountability, and patient-centeredness.
  • Co-lead initiatives with the Senior Leadership Team that help to achieve the Strategic Plan.
