About The Position

The Vice President, Medical Affairs will establish and lead Latigo’s Medical Affairs function, serving as a key strategic partner to the Chief Medical Officer and executive team. This individual will be responsible for shaping and executing the medical strategy across a portfolio spanning a rapidly advancing Phase 3 asset and earlier-stage clinical programs. This is a highly visible, externally facing role requiring deep scientific and clinical expertise, particularly in pain and neuroscience. The VP will translate Latigo’s mechanism-based science and clinical data into a compelling medical narrative, engage thought leaders, and build the foundation for future commercialization. The role requires a leader who can operate strategically while remaining hands-on in a fast-paced, clinical-stage biotechnology environment.

Requirements

  • MD or PhD required; additional relevant scientific or clinical training is a plus
  • Significant experience in Medical Affairs leadership within biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in pain, neuroscience, or related therapeutic areas strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting late-stage clinical development and/or preparing for commercialization
  • Proven ability to engage and influence external experts and build credibility within the medical community
  • Strong track record of scientific communication, including publications and congress presentations
  • Experience building or scaling Medical Affairs capabilities in a growing organization preferred
  • Scientific credibility and intellectual rigor, with the ability to translate complex data into clear insights
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute in a hands-on, resource-efficient environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with executive presence and external engagement capabilities
  • Collaborative leader who thrives in a cross-functional, fast-paced biotech setting
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and commitment to improving patient outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead the overall medical strategy aligned with Latigo’s clinical development programs and corporate objectives
  • Translate clinical and mechanistic data into a clear, differentiated scientific narrative for external stakeholders
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs), investigators, and academic experts in pain, neuroscience, and related fields
  • Represent Latigo at major medical and scientific congresses, driving awareness of the company’s programs and scientific approach
  • Lead the development and execution of publication and medical communication strategies, including abstracts, manuscripts, and congress presentations
  • Provide strategic medical input into clinical development plans, including trial design, endpoint selection, and interpretation of data
  • Partner cross-functionally with Clinical Development, Regulatory, Commercial, and R&D teams to ensure alignment of medical strategy across the organization
  • Build and scale the Medical Affairs function, including the phased development of a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team
  • Ensure scientific rigor, compliance, and integrity in all external medical communications and engagements
