About The Position

C4 Therapeutics (C4T) is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing targeted protein degradation medicines. They are seeking an experienced Vice President, Medical Affairs to establish and lead the medical affairs function. This role is crucial as the company advances its pipeline through clinical development and prepares for potential commercialization. The ideal candidate will develop and execute an integrated medical affairs strategy to support the pipeline, engage with external scientific communities, guide evidence generation, and ensure medical readiness for key programs. The role requires deep expertise in oncology, rare disease, or specialty therapeutics, strong scientific credibility, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, clinical-stage biotech environment.

Requirements

  • MD, PharmD or advanced scientific or clinical degree required
  • Minimum of fifteen years of progressive experience in medical affairs, clinical development or related functions within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Demonstrated success building or scaling medical affairs capabilities in a clinical-stage, pre-commercial or commercial-stage organization.
  • Deep understanding of medical affairs strategy, scientific exchange, publication planning, medical information, evidence generation, compliance and launch readiness.
  • Strong executive presence, communication skills and ability to influence across functions while representing C4T externally with credibility and professionalism.

  • Significant experience in oncology, hematology/oncology, specialty therapeutics or other relevant disease areas.
  • Proven ability to build trusted relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators and external scientific stakeholders.
  • Experience leading teams, managing budgets and developing talent in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
  • Strong scientific acumen and ability to interpret, synthesize and communicate complex clinical and translational data to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and communicate a comprehensive medical affairs vision and operating model aligned with C4T’s corporate strategy, clinical development priorities and potential commercialization plans.
  • Lead the development of product- and indication-specific medical strategies, including scientific engagement plans, evidence generation priorities, congress strategy, publication planning and medical education activities.
  • Serve as a senior medical affairs advisor to executive leadership, providing strategic perspective on external medical trends, disease area dynamics, unmet needs, competitive intelligence and stakeholder insights.
  • Partner with Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, Program Leadership and Corporate Communications to ensure medical strategy is integrated across program plans and external communications.
  • Build and lead core medical affairs capabilities, including medical strategy, external scientific engagement, medical communications, medical information, publication planning and field medical readiness.
  • Develop and oversee medical plans that support clinical-stage assets, including scientific narrative development, advisory boards, investigator engagement, disease education and launch readiness activities.
  • Ensure medical affairs activities are scientifically rigorous, compliant, cross-functionally aligned and appropriately prioritized against business and portfolio needs.
  • Translate clinical and scientific data into clear, balanced and accurate medical materials for internal stakeholders and external audiences.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key opinion leaders, investigators, cooperative groups, patient advocacy organizations and other external scientific stakeholders.
  • Lead strategy for advisory boards, expert consultations and scientific exchange activities that inform clinical development, evidence generation and medical strategy.
  • Partner with Clinical Development and Translational Sciences to identify evidence gaps and support investigator-sponsored research, real-world evidence plans and other data generation initiatives as appropriate.
  • Represent C4T at scientific and medical conferences, industry forums and external engagements with a high degree of scientific credibility and professionalism.
  • Build, mentor and develop a high-performing medical affairs organization with the capabilities, culture and infrastructure required to support C4T’s growth.
  • Manage medical affairs budget, vendors and external partners to ensure effective execution and responsible resource allocation.
  • Champion collaboration, accountability, inclusion and scientific excellence within the medical affairs function and across cross-functional teams.
  • Establish appropriate processes, metrics and governance to monitor medical affairs execution, risk and impact.

Benefits

  • The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $377,711.00 and $417,471.00 annually
