About The Position

Seeking a highly motivated, experienced Investment Banking Vice President to join BMO’s Healthcare Investment Banking Coverage team in New York. This role provides a combination of deep industry sector expertise, innovative thinking in a team-based approach, and world-class execution across a full suite of products to clients through an integrated Capital Markets platform. The Vice President will collaborate to generate creative, client-focused solutions, operate as a key member of the deal team to maximize sector penetration and returns, and create pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participate in their presentation to clients. Responsibilities include monitoring client, client industry, and regulatory agencies for potential changes, reviewing and continually monitoring performance of existing accounts and client relationships, and conducting due diligence such as client visits, analyzing business models, and comprehensively reviewing industry trends and related regulations. The role requires understanding client needs and providing relevant ideas and opinions to generate recommendations, collaborating with sector coverage partners for clients and prospects to identify/deliver creative, timely solutions, and providing deal expertise while preparing/overseeing delivery of creative and timely “pitches”. Maintaining key ongoing coverage contact with clients and sector managers, building positive client relations through a deep/comprehensive understanding of client needs and alignment of BMO’s products/services, and acting as a positive change agent to drive improved efficiency and effectiveness are also key aspects. The Vice President will assist in the development of strategic plans, support the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and work with specialists as needed to support successful deal completion. This role involves creating and updating financial models/analyses to support strategic recommendations to clients, applying appropriate technical concepts, and completing/leading consistent and reliable technical and financial reports/analyses to support client deliverables. Understanding the complexity of transactions and related risks (credit, market, operational, legal/compliance, etc.), integrating information from multiple sources for efficient processes, enhanced analysis, and/or streamlined reporting are crucial. The Vice President will review and guide the work of Analysts and Associates to deliver business results, consider risk, internal controls, and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities, and adhere to policies and procedures. Providing specialized consulting, analytical, and technical support, working independently, and exercising judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules are expected. Additionally, the role includes providing direction and feedback to Analysts and Associates, and being accountable for their development and mentoring. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Typically, between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience in Healthcare Investment Banking
  • Life sciences sector experience is required
  • Undergraduate and/or advanced degree in life sciences areas are highly desirable
  • Displays advanced deal execution and/or project management skills - ability to manage more than one client / major initiative.
  • Demonstrates strong biopharma market knowledge to enable the comprehensive servicing of clients and the effective development of new solutions.
  • Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
