About The Position

This role supports Corporate Audit Services (CAS) Americas by executing and contributing to risk‑based audit and assurance activities, with a focus on the Finance and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) /AML domains across ING’s U.S. operations. The position offers exposure to complex regulatory topics, senior stakeholders, and cross‑functional processes, while supporting audits, continuous monitoring, and issue closure activities. The successful candidate will help deliver high‑quality, independent assurance that strengthens governance, risk management, and control effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of internal audit experience within U.S. regulated financial institutions or public accounting (Big 4 or comparable), with strong understanding of business lines and key U.S. banking regulations, particularly across Finance and BSA/AML frameworks.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Professionally sceptic and curious attitude.
  • Strong communication skills (verbally and in writing).
  • Client oriented, team player and creative: strives for innovation, improvement, and efficiency, and be able to perform under pressure.
  • Candidate should have a ‘make it happen mentality’, a clear interest in the financial services industry and a willingness to continuously learn and improve.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master or postgraduate degree is a plus.
  • a Bachelor degree with at least one certification from CIA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, FRM (or comparable) or a willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

  • Execute and lead key assurance activities (including audits, continuous monitoring, and issue closure assessments) to evaluate risk exposure, control effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide clear, actionable insights to management on the severity, impact, and root causes of key risks.
  • Engage and facilitate structured discussions with stakeholders on risk exposures, their business impact, and the effectiveness of risk management practices.
  • Support regulatory interactions by preparing and reviewing high‑quality written materials, analyses, and responses.
  • Collaborate with central Subject Matter Expert (SME) teams to leverage specialized knowledge, support assurance activities, and ensure alignment with ING quality standards, emerging risks, and regulatory expectations.
