About The Position

LPL Financial is seeking a Vice President II of Software Engineering Delivery to lead and shape the technology organization. This role will provide technical leadership and collaborate with Business and Product teams on the vision and implementation of the next level of our advisor digital platform. The position is responsible for delivering deep customization, scalability, and a streamlined experience for advisors, end-investors, and institutions. The successful candidate will foster engineering excellence, lead high-performing teams, and cultivate an open, innovative culture. This role involves working with a dynamic, cross-functional team including engineering, product, and design to create world-class products, empowering the team to create high-quality solutions, and leading the engineering team in delivering technology solutions, including standards, pre-production environments, and development tools. The role will also drive and support AI Enablement & Engineering Transformation, leading the adoption of AI-assisted software development practices to improve productivity and code quality. Additionally, this position partners with other agile team leaders to share learning, mitigate technical dependencies, plan for capacity needs, and establish practice consistency between agile teams. Activities include daily oversight of development quality and partnering with solution architecture to establish patterns that advance teams towards scalable platforms.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience leading multiple development teams across various value streams providing nurturing leadership and talent development efforts for successful project delivery, application, and platform support.
  • Build cross-functional rapport with other leaders in the Technology and Product organizations for help navigating through dependencies, risk mitigation and triage of issues to resolution.
  • Have a deep, hands-on understanding of cloud architecture and design, with an emphasis on secure, distributed hybrid cloud platforms.
  • Very strong understanding of large databases/data warehouses and data architecture
  • Have a deep understanding of API design, the difference between platform design and application design, and the tooling to create modern APIs.
  • Strong Object-oriented Principles in a common OOP language framework such as C# / .Net.
  • Act as a mentor and lead on a cross-functional team that includes business analysis, and engineering.
  • Core Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interface with customers to gather business needs and to present solutions
  • Capable of effectively planning, prioritizing and executing tasks utilizing resources and tools
  • Experience using Agile – champion Agile Manifesto within the team

Nice To Haves

  • Cloud technology solution experience: AWS certifications preferred
  • Financial-industry experience, particularly in wealth & asset management organization
  • Strong Executive Presence, excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to convey technical solutions to the entire organization and experience working with senior leader of the firm to drive positive outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of software developers, ensuring productivity, motivation, and alignment with technology organization goals.
  • Recruit, coach, and manage software engineering roles across product teams.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of software projects, managing timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure on-time, within-budget, and high-quality delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership, staying updated with the latest technologies and best practices.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, collaborating with other departments and managing vendors, clients, and partners.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with software development projects, ensuring appropriate controls for cybersecurity, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process, identifying opportunities for technology to drive business growth and potential risks with emerging technologies.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the software development process, implementing changes for greater efficiency, productivity, and quality.
  • Lead the engineering team to successfully deliver technology solutions including standards, pre-production environments, and development tools.

  • Lead the adoption of AI-assisted software development practices (e.g., code generation, automated testing, developer copilots) to improve productivity and code quality.
  • Partner with other agile team leaders to share learning, mitigate technical dependencies, plan for capacity needs and establish practice consistency between agile teams.
  • Provide daily oversight of development quality.
  • Partner with solution architecture to establish patterns that progress the teams towards scalable platforms.
  • Ensure all engineering designs and model architecture align with enterprise standards.
  • Work across business, product and technical teams to deliver solutions that drive commercial impact.
  • Drive integration of AI capabilities into the platform, enhancing personalization, insights, and client experience.
  • Establish standards and guardrails for responsible AI usage, including data privacy, model governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage machine learning, predictive analytics, and automation to modernize workflows and reduce manual effort.
  • Partner with enterprise AI, data, and architecture teams to align with LPL’s broader AI strategy and reusable capabilities.
  • Upskill engineering teams on AI/ML concepts, tools, and best practices to build a future-ready workforce.
