About The Position

At Wycliffe Bible Translators, the Vice President for Finance collaborates with the Chief Financial Officer to provide strategic leadership support across the finance division. This role serves as a member of the Operational Leadership Team and oversees the financial operations of Wycliffe USA and the Wycliffe Foundation, ensuring sound stewardship of God-given resources, operational excellence, and responsive service across the organization. The position is pivotal in safeguarding the organization’s financial integrity and long-term sustainability, strengthening its capacity to steward resources wisely, advance global Bible translation efforts, and cultivate partnerships that expand access to Scripture worldwide. The VP for Finance partners with CFO leadership and other team members to develop and execute organizational strategies, shape and model a healthy organizational culture, represent Wycliffe USA in key partnerships, and provide leadership and direction to Finance, ensuring operational excellence, risk management, and long-term sustainability. The role champions accuracy, timeliness, and integrity across financial processes, reporting, and communication, handling financial data with professionalism, discretion, and care, and strengthening a collaborative, people-centered culture that values excellence and continuous improvement. The Finance team at Wycliffe USA is crucial in advancing Bible translation by stewarding resources wisely and supporting the global workforce. This includes Corporate Accounting, Gift Processing, Member Finance, Foundation, and Payroll. The team takes a relational approach, grounded in integrity, diligence, and a desire to serve well, focusing on operational excellence and ongoing growth to equip the organization to serve the global Church faithfully and sustainably.

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Seven or more years of progressive financial leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Identify with and participate in a church and proactively seek to grow your faith in Christ.
  • Establish and maintain a team of prayer partners who will support you in your season of ministry at Wycliffe (minimum 3-5 partners).

Responsibilities

  • Faithfully and regularly pray for the ongoing work of Bible translation and for people from around the world to experience transformation.
  • Act as an organizational representative presenting the global ministry of Wycliffe and encouraging interested individuals, organizations and churches to participate in the work of Bible translation.
  • Provide spiritual leadership within the organization, including speaking on spiritual topics, modeling godly behaviors and living out healthy and biblical spiritual rhythms.
  • Operate as a champion of organizational culture across Finance and ensure saturation of culture and cultural values throughout areas of responsibility.
  • As a member of the OLT, hold a cross-organizational perspective, looking to the effectiveness of the whole organization as well as that of Finance.
  • Ensure alignment of operations to organizational strategy and values.
  • Foster a compassionate and empathetic work environment that promotes open communication and a sense of community among staff.
  • Participate in the ELT and OLT's ongoing strategic planning and budget processes.
  • Work with areas of responsibility to ensure alignment with strategic and budget priorities.
  • Champion change management, communicating organizational strategies to entrusted staff, leading staff and leadership into healthy transitions and organizational alignment.
  • Develop communication and feedback mechanisms (including in-person visits) to connect with global staff and partners, respond to their needs, and adjust operations as needed.
  • Preserve the financial integrity of Wycliffe USA and the Foundation.
  • Review, establish, and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures; ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory, and security standards; and, as required, ensure the insurance program and nonprofit best practices are in place to protect the organization's resources.
  • Responsible for day-to-day operations and guiding decisions of the Finance Department in accordance with policies and procedures, problem-solving, coaching/development and ensuring a high-level customer experience to donors, staff, partner organizations, and other customers.
  • Participate on the Gift Acceptance Committee to provide guidance and work collaboratively with Foundation Gift Planning Advisors and donors in developing, evaluating and completing planned gifts.
  • Assist with Wycliffe USA’s Risk Management Program, which includes coordinating risk assessment and mitigation efforts with the Operational Leadership Team and providing periodic reports to the Executive Leadership Team and Board Finance Committee.
  • Contribute to the Wycliffe USA budget process by participating in collaborative discussions and debates with Wycliffe executive leadership and help ensure the allocation of resources while supporting organizational and departmental strategies.
  • Responsible for preparing annual budgets in the Workday Adaptive Planning system to include: revenue projection budget, operating budget, total budget, capital budget, and fund budgets.
  • Monitors budget activity.
  • Provides timely and accurate financial information and reports for the Wycliffe USA Board, CEO, COO and CFO.
  • Reports observable trends and variances that may affect decision-making.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state and local applicable laws and regulations by staying abreast of existing and new legislation and filing of applicable reports.
  • Informs and advises Executive Leadership on potential risks and recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Responsible for planning and completion of the year-end audit and collaboration with external auditors, including the annual consolidation and audited financial statements.
  • Assists the CFO by representing Wycliffe USA on various boards and committees, such as the Audit Committee, Retirement Plan Committee, Health Plan Advisory Committee, and other ad hoc committees.
  • Initiates and cultivates relationships with the finance leadership of the partner and other like-minded non-profit organizations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Coordinate supervisory responsibilities for 15 - 35 staff in accordance with the ministry’s policies and applicable laws, including spiritual leadership, interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining staff, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Adjust work schedule as needed to accommodate meetings across time zones.
