About The Position

Montgomery College, Central Services Campus, seeks candidates for a FT Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations in the office of Advancement and Community Engagement. The work schedule is 5 days/40 hours weekly. This is a Non-Bargaining, Exempt, grade 39 position. This position is eligible for telework. Telework eligibility and total days per week are subject to change based on the operational needs of the applicable unit/area. Montgomery College does not currently offer voluntary remote work, or withhold payroll taxes for states outside of its tax reciprocity agreements. As a result, employees must reside in, and perform any approved telework from Maryland, Washington, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, or Pennsylvania. Employees residing in other states at the time of hire are not eligible for telework until they have secured a permanent residence in one of the states listed above. The Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations oversees and directs the Development, Foundation and Stewardships functions and staff. Contacts are with the President, Senior Administration Leadership Team, Board of Trustees, Montgomery College Foundation Board, County government and County agencies, and the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in field related to business, development, fundraising or non-profit management.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Capital Campaign planning and fundraising.
  • Five (5) years of experience in soliciting major gifts of $100,000 or more.
  • Five (5) years of experience supervising staff.
  • Five (5) years of experience in annual gift giving, planned giving and donor stewardship.
  • Five (5) years of experience in database management.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee fundraising efforts to ensure successful philanthropic campaigns.
  • Oversees donor cultivation, stewardship, planned events and scholarship development.
  • Engages the President and the Foundation Board in identifying, in cultivating and soliciting influential community persons for financial support, advocacy and volunteer roles.
  • Oversee philanthropy events including development, marketing and communications.
  • Oversees the Foundation’s finances, including management of staff, budgeting, fundraising and gift processing.
  • Ensures compliance with Federal and state laws, and the Foundation’s policies and procedures.
  • Leads the 24 member Montgomery College Foundation Board.
  • Recruits and engages the Foundation Board through fundraising, volunteerism, and advocacy.
  • Develops and implements Board structure, policies and procedures and ensures alignment with the College’s mission and priorities.
  • Ensures Foundation and its staff are in compliance with Federal, state and local regulations related to 501(c)(3) organizations as educational foundations.
  • Implements the Strategic Planning Committee to align the foundation efforts with the College.
  • Oversees the communications, events and activities of Alumni Relations.
  • Develops strategies to increase the recruitment and engagement of the Alumni Association Board, and increase alumni participation in financial support and volunteerism.
  • Plans and directs future campaign efforts including project management, readiness assessment, committees, logistics, etc.
  • Matches prospective donors with institutional needs.
  • Manages development of campaign communications (i.e., letters, publications and proposals) for prospective donors.
  • Oversees data management coordination for Development and Alumni Relations research activities and studies.
  • Responsible for understanding and ensuring compliance with relevant collective bargaining agreements - ensuring employees are led, managed and supervised in accordance with relevant agreement, may be required to participate in employee and labor relations activities such as collective bargaining negotiations, grievance and discipline hearings, labor and management committees and governance councils.
