About The Position

PGIM Real Estate Technology is seeking an Vice President and Principal Engineer, reporting to the PGIM Real Estate CTO, to drive the strategy, architecture, and delivery of our enterprise data, AI, and application platforms. This role will build the AI foundation powering data‑driven decisions, design scalable architecture, and partner with the business to deliver trusted, well‑governed solutions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on technology leader who thrives on solving complex data and architecture challenges while energizing and growing high-performing data engineering teams. This leader will translate business priorities into measurable outcomes that drive strategic insights, operational excellence, and executive decision‑making across a dynamic global real estate platform.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, data platform engineering, or solution architecture.
  • 5+ years leading data engineering or software development teams.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and emerging technologies, demonstrated by active engagement with the latest tools and ongoing self-directed learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to partner effectively across functions and organizational levels.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages (i.e. Python, Java, or C#) with hands-on coding and code review experience.
  • Front-end development expertise using React, Angular, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Back-end and API development using REST, GraphQL, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Experience designing and building transactional systems with high throughput, low latency, and ACID guarantees.
  • Solution design, system decomposition, and build-vs-buy evaluation across SaaS and custom-built platforms.
  • Deep expertise in complex API contracts, integration patterns, and multi-level on-behalf-of flows.
  • Ability to engineer for high availability, zero-downtime operations, and disaster recovery.
  • Strong SQL and relational database skills (design, performance tuning, stored procedures).
  • Experience with modern data lakehouse platforms such as Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, OneLake, Semantic Models).
  • Reporting and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau).
  • Cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure) for hosting and integrating enterprise apps.
  • CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and modern DevOps practices.
  • Modern security and IAM standards (OAuth 2.0, SAML, OIDC) and auditable change management processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Real estate or investment management systems exposure (property management, fund/investment accounting, loan servicing) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead strategy, architecture, and delivery of enterprise applications including the unified data platform and data access layer.
  • Build the AI foundation that enables natural language queries, chatbot experiences, and RAG-based capabilities across structured and unstructured data.
  • Design and govern the technical architecture to ensure scalability, performance, security, and alignment with enterprise standards.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to translate priorities into technology solutions that deliver measurable business value.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a team of engineers and architects, fostering a culture of accountability and delivery excellence.
  • Drive data governance and AI readiness in partnership with PGIM’s technology councils and enterprise architecture functions.
  • Own the enterprise application roadmap for PGIM Real Estate, aligning investments and milestones with broader modernization priorities.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including SOW oversight, delivery accountability, and cost optimization.
