About The Position

The Vice President (VP) of Engineering, Connected Digital Products is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the technology strategy, development, and execution of digital and connected product initiatives for Power Tools, specifically for the DEWALT brand. Initially, this leader will oversee the ToolConnect and MSUITE solutions. ToolConnect is a cloud-enabled product providing visibility into DEWALT power tool usage on construction job sites, offering data on productivity and safety. MSUITE is a cloud-based software suite for MEP contractors, connecting BIM, fabrication, and field teams. The VP will standardize cloud and application infrastructure, integrate advanced capabilities like analytics, AI, and visualization, and enhance current features to boost end-user value through automation, productivity, and safety.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in co-developing a digital product vision and detailed roadmaps in partnership with product to build solutions serving the construction industry including: IoT, M2M, and Smart Devices.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in development and delivery of connected products with End-to-End architecture solutions in AWS IoT Core, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in comprehensive knowledge of data security and data integrity in end-to-end digital connected products.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in successfully collaborating with external partners, vendors, consultants, and Engineering Service Providers to manage overall delivery.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in partnering with Global Sourcing teams to support vendor relationships and assist with contract negotiations and cost management.
  • 8+ years of demonstrated relevant experience in strong global compliance mindset for secure handling, device data, and communication of such data as identified in GDPR, Industry related specifications such as PII, related evolving regulations and company policy.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience demonstrated in ability to lead others and work effectively with users and company colleagues in globally distributed cross functional organization to mature solutions through delivery and post deployment.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience demonstrated in strong working knowledge of the entire IoT technology stack including on-device firmware, Gateways, software development, WAN communication and data delivery to the cloud services making data available to applications in the cloud or on mobile devices.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience demonstrated in successfully managing, prioritizing, and assessing the impact of all work items, such as new features, defects, including providing the decisions on when to create, fix or defer at the detailed project delivery level.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience demonstrated in development of best practices and execution of development leadership, problem solving, and solution deployment.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience demonstrated in ability to manage team finances and development resources to meet budget targets and constraints in addition to developing cost models for cloud and web-based products for future product related investments.
  • 15+ years of relevant experience demonstrated in leading teams using Object Oriented Programing Principles and experience working to agile methodologies and lean product development.

  • Digital technology certifications are desirable.
  • Familiarity with existing DEWALT Digital Products including MSUITE BIM & FAB, DEWALT Digital Design Assist (DDA), and Tool Connect.
  • Working with product managers and customer stakeholders to define and track key product performance indicators (KPIs), Product Critical To Quality & release-specific success metrics.
  • Product and Program Management Skills to deliver quality products and services on time, on budget, and compliant with cybersecurity and data privacy requirements.
  • Technical knowledge of the development of microcontroller and microprocessor hardware and embedded solution software.
  • Product Innovation and developing patentable concepts and working knowledge of intellectual property protection.

Responsibilities

  • Drive innovation on connected devices through the evaluation and integration of novel networking and sensor technologies into product roadmaps.
  • Create a compelling vision for cloud and AI-enabled innovation solutions for DEWALT and the broader SBD portfolio.
  • Ensure the adoption of AI and Machine Learning (AI/ML) technologies in customer-facing solutions and product development processes.
  • Lead a global team in designing, building, managing, and maintaining software, IoT hardware, and digital components for cloud services.
  • Lead the architecture and delivery of robust workflow solutions leveraging Autodesk® Revit®, AWS & AWS IoT Core, Bluetooth, and LoRa networking.
  • Collaborate with Product Leadership for strategic plans that meet user needs and drive product performance.
  • Work in a hybrid Agile format to deliver new and expanded capabilities for digital & connected DEWALT products.
  • Partner with QA, Performance, Machine Learning, CISO, and Customer Application teams to ensure quality, cybersecurity, ML capabilities, and responsiveness.
  • Lead the creation of a comprehensive DEWALT digital product platform and suite of services connecting to an ecosystem of third-party Construction Technology providers.
  • Design, develop, and deliver Digital Tagging and Connected Asset Gateways to collect device data.
  • Design, develop, and lifecycle manage network solutions utilizing Cellular, LPWAN, FSK, BLE, and other wireless technologies.
  • Enrich application lifecycle management best practices with a continuous improvement mindset and report progress through KPIs and metrics.
  • Lead 24/7 operations and support functions in partnership with the Pune Design center to ensure delivery teams can focus on customer advances.
  • Provide motivation to the team and business partners to ensure colleague engagement.
