About The Position

Axis Insurance Managers Inc. is seeking a Vice President for their Energy team. This role involves developing and implementing marketing strategies to grow the commercial insurance book of business, managing an existing book of clients, selling brokerage services, conducting client review meetings, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and insurers. The position also requires staying updated on industry changes, attending industry functions, referring business opportunities, coaching support staff, and preparing annual business plans. The ideal candidate is passionate about providing excellent service, making a difference, teamwork, continuous learning, integrity, and taking ownership. They should excel at relationship building, time management, attention to detail, proactive work, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.

Requirements

  • General Insurance Agent Level 2 license through the Insurance Council of Alberta, with the ability to obtain license in other provinces

Nice To Haves

  • CAIB, CIP, CRM or other insurance designations considered an asset
  • Post Secondary Degree considered an asset
  • Experience using EPIC broker management system an asset
  • CAIB or CIP insurance designation
  • Experience using the Epic broker management system
  • Insurance experience in D&O, cyber, and other specialty lines, rate sheets, including split rating, process of learning/understanding clients’ operations, pre-underwriting process for the practice group’s specialty industry/industries

Responsibilities

  • Developing and implementing a marketing strategy to grow the commercial insurance book of business, developing new business opportunities
  • Managing an insurance book of business, ensuring clients have the necessary coverage in place, quoting and binding coverage, and cross and up-selling additional coverage where possible
  • Selling brokerage services to reach mutually agreed target revenue and activity quotas
  • Conducting regular review meetings with existing clients to service and identify opportunities for new prospecting activities
  • Maintaining a highly technical and service-oriented relationship with clients
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with Insurers to ensure clients receive favourable pricing and claims handling and to potentially develop new products
  • Keeping abreast of changes within the industry, attending seminars, reviewing industry publications, and liaising with others (underwriters, adjusters, etc.) within the industry
  • Attending client, insurer, and industry functions to build networks and identify new business streams
  • Referring business opportunities outside specialty area to other Vice Presidents
  • Coaching and mentoring support staff, on an on-going basis
  • Preparing and presenting annual business plans with projected sales goals, strategies, obstacles, and areas for growth
