About The Position

Stanley Black & Decker (NYSE: SWK) is seeking a strategic, innovative and results-oriented Vice President, Corporate Strategy to guide the company’s direction and ensure it is positioned for long-term success and resilience in a competitive market. Reporting to the Vice President, Enterprise Strategy and Business Development, this role will support the development, communication, and execution of the organization’s strategic initiatives. The Enterprise Strategy team aligns closely with Stanley Black & Decker’s executive leaders and drives initiatives in three major areas: Strategic Projects and Initiatives Lead important strategic projects or initiatives mandated by the Board of Directors or the Executive Committee on behalf of the enterprise. The Enterprise Strategy Team leads and executes large-scale change or transformation efforts, as well as supporting the development of enterprise and business strategies. Initiatives include market entry strategy, growth strategy, and portfolio strategy. Competitive Strategy & Intelligence Partner with Executive Committee members to shape the competitive strategy for the company and embed it into strategic efforts within business units. Assess competitor activities and performance, including being accountable for ongoing competitive monitoring. Strategic Planning Define the strategic planning process for the business, including long-range planning, strategic planning, and strategy reviews with the Executive Committee and/or Board of Directors. This position can be based in Charlotte, North Carolina, New Britain, Connecticut or Towson, Maryland, though remote locations will be considered.

Requirements

  • Academic degree(s) in quantitative discipline(s), with meaningful coursework in business, economics, finance, mathematics or statistics, and strategy. Relevant advanced degree or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of work experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning and project management, including 4+ years in top-tier management consulting firm.
  • Leadership experience in a for profit environment in a similar industry, with track record of exceptional team building, productivity and collaboration.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with experience in market analysis and business intelligence.
  • Expertise in working with C-suite leadership on critical matters that influence and define a business’ success and improve the odds of achieving.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, make data-driven decisions, and think critically in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to operate as a team, recognize team accomplishments and foster a collaborative environment. Comfortable acting as both an individual contributor and cross-functional team leader.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with senior business leaders to identify key strategic questions, scope analysis, assign resources, manage execution, and report findings
  • Analyze key strategic growth opportunities and work toward “cracking the case”
  • Manage the delivery of insightful, zero-defect analysis, including understanding the required data to complete analyses and oversee team workplan to complete
  • Develop competitive intelligence gathering that aids in the formation of relevant competitive strategies
  • Execute financial and quantitative analyses that will yield critical answers to the questions at hand
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, at senior levels of the organization
  • Lead the development of major presentations for senior executives, Executive Committee and Board Members.
  • Author impactful, concise, and defect-free PowerPoint slide decks.
  • Develop junior team members and streamline processes within the Strategy team
  • Effectively manage day-to-day activities of cross-functional teams across brands, functions, and business units
