About The Position

Citizens is seeking an experienced Investment Banking Vice President (VP) to join our Corporate Finance (Industry Coverage) team focusing on Real Estate, Gaming, Lodging & Leisure (REGLL) to support the team’s senior professionals in industry-focused client development and originating, structuring, and executing debt capital markets, equity capital markets, and M&A transactions. The VP’s responsibilities will include client development support and significant transaction involvement, with the ability to work on multiple projects and transactions concurrently. They will play a critical role in developing industry-focused idea generation, working on deal teams and coordinating projects. The VP will work directly with senior professionals on the Corporate Finance team and in partnership with Debt Capital Markets / Leveraged Finance, Equity Capital Markets, and M&A product groups, as well as Sponsor Coverage and Corporate Banking relationship teams to support origination and execution efforts for transactions. These include: acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, dividend recapitalizations, restructurings, refinancings, and equity raises. This position offers an excellent opportunity to join a rapidly growing investment banking platform with a market leading position in the REGLL sector. Through this experience the VP will gain insight into the issues and considerations for management teams and shareholders, and exposure to strategic, financial, and capital decision making across public and private companies.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of direct experience in M&A, Corporate Finance, Industry Coverage, Leveraged Finance / Capital Markets
  • Proven client interaction with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to express ideas in a persuasive, organized, and articulate manner
  • Experience managing teams of junior resources (analysts/associates)
  • Ability to function as part of a flat organization, manage several projects at once and work effectively as an individual and as part of multiple teams
  • Ability to follow-up independently and consistently and play the critical role as the project manager on most assignments
  • Demonstrated aptitude for quantitative and qualitative analysis with a solid understanding of financial statements, financial modeling and company / industry analysis
  • Self-starting team player who can think strategically and excel in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, challenging work environment
  • High degree of maturity and integrity with a positive and hardworking attitude
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to immediately contribute to the group based on experience and help transfer best practices and knowledge
  • Experience with related financial services software including S&P CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, FactSet, Pitchbook, AlphaSense, etc.
  • Undergraduate degree with a strong academic record from a leading university.
  • FINRA Series 79 (or 7) and Series 63 required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Gaming, Leisure & Lodging is not required
  • MBA not required but a plus
  • Attendance in a formal investment or corporate banking training program preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Working with the senior bankers and analysts/associates on the REGLL Corporate Finance team
  • Additional exposure to and partnership with the Debt Capital Markets / Leveraged Finance, Equity Capital Markets, and M&A product groups, Sponsor Coverage and Corporate Banking relationship teams to develop pitch materials that encompass, strategic alternatives, M&A opportunities, financing scenarios to help corporate clients and financial sponsors achieve their financial and strategic objectives
  • Conducting comprehensive company and industry research and maintain several key industry datasets
  • Analyzing financial model output and other relevant information to prioritize data and present conclusions for discussion purposes
  • Preparing and presenting pitch materials for client meetings
  • Creating thoughtful overviews M&A opportunities to be shared with clients
  • Support transaction screening and credit / underwriting approval processes and all required documentation, analysis, and meetings
  • Playing a key leadership role throughout the transaction execution process
  • Participating in accounting, business, and legal due diligence
  • Preparing detailed transaction marketing materials including confidential information memoranda and lender / management presentations and virtual data rooms
  • Develop relationships with industry stakeholders
