About The Position

The Danaher Global Clinical Affairs function provides leadership and direction on clinical evidence generation supporting the business strategy across all Danaher Diagnostics (DHR Dx) operating companies. The Vice President, Clinical Research is responsible for establishing and leading the function, leveraging the Danaher Business System in the timely, high-quality execution of global clinical evidence programs, and leading a global team that supports new product development strategy. This position reports to the SVP, Regulatory & Global Clinical Affairs DHR Diagnostics and is part of the Clinical Affairs Shared Services team and will be fully remote. In this role, you will have the opportunity to be accountable for the performance and results of Danaher’s Clinical Center of Excellence, including Clinical Research and Clinical Study Management across all DHR Diagnostics operating companies. You will provide strategic oversight of the Global Clinical Research team responsible for translating global market needs and regulatory requirements into successful clinical evidence strategies, which includes clinical trial strategy partnering with biostatistics and data management, study management, clinical compliance, and execution to ensure market access and product lifecycle sustainment. You will apply in-depth industry knowledge and experience to develop and execute clinical study strategies to achieve key business objectives in an evolving competitive environment, differentiating Danaher products with evidence generation. You will maintain current knowledge of innovative clinical evidence strategies, using that knowledge and critical thinking to evaluate and resolve key complex business challenges across a highly diverse product portfolio spanning diagnostics, life sciences, and biotechnology. You will develop strategies that provide new differentiated evidence solutions and enable new peer-to-peer customer interactions, resulting in uptake through clinical and technical communication with healthcare professionals across multiple therapeutic areas. You will establish collaborative relationships with leaders across Danaher operating companies, influencing the clinical operational strategy and ensuring alignment with corporate objectives. You will cultivate a positive work environment that reflects company values, embodies collaboration across functions and operating companies, and promotes associate development. You will assess clinical capabilities across the global team, implementing structured competency frameworks to identify skill gaps and development opportunities, while leading targeted talent acquisition efforts to recruit and onboard high-caliber clinical research professionals; you will build and sustain high-performing teams by cultivating a pipeline of specialized expertise aligned with the needs and complexity of the Danaher Dx Operating companies strategic opportunities. You will drive diverse talent management and engagement of the team using Danaher business tools, fostering an inclusive environment that leverages varied perspectives and backgrounds. You will drive operational efficiencies and implement best practices across clinical operations, standardizing processes and methodologies to enhance productivity and quality outcomes. You will oversee the development, design, and implementation of global clinical studies from concept through completion, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and business objectives across in vitro diagnostics and diverse product technologies. You will manage the full lifecycle of clinical study programs, including protocol development, site selection, patient recruitment strategies, and study execution across multiple therapeutic areas and geographic regions. You will develop clinical evidence strategies to support novel diagnostic products, including those that use machine learning and AI technology to improve clinical outcomes. You will ensure clinical affairs systems are established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with applicable standards and worldwide regulatory requirements. You will drive talent management and engagement of the team using Danaher business tools and promote cross-functional collaboration across the corporation. You will manage departmental budget and financial resources, ensuring optimal allocation, least burdensome clinical study designs, and cost-effective operations across all clinical affairs activities, including benchmarking study costs against industry standards to drive competitive, data-informed financial decision-making.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Research, or a related field, or an M.D.
  • A minimum of 10 years of industry or relevant experience successfully executing in vitro diagnostic studies.
  • At least 7 years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Directly related experience in Clinical Program planning and execution, including an understanding of clinical strategy, regulatory affairs, assay/instrument principles involving in vitro diagnostic product design and usage, the scientific, statistical, regulatory and compliance requirements of clinical research, compliant medical communications, and the development and launch of medical products of diverse regulatory classification.
  • Proven success at a senior leadership level, working in a matrixed business structure with experience managing global teams across multiple operating companies and ensuring clinical affairs systems meet worldwide regulatory requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated career success in achieving commercial release of products related to diagnostics, life sciences, biotechnology, or pharmaceutical development is highly desirable.
  • Experience with novel diagnostics products including machine learning and AI technology applications in clinical settings is preferred.
  • Experience with Molecular, Companion Diagnostics, Clinical Chemistry Instruments and Assays, and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities and Disorders preferred.
