About The Position

Responsible for overall clinical operations management and regulatory compliance for clinical areas. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Oversight and leadership of the following functions: Physician Relations Serves as a staff chair for Critical Care Committee and Transplantation Community of Practice Committee. Serves as a staff liaison to the Advisory Board, develops positive relationships with area transplant surgeons and other physicians critical to MTN's function, and promotes communication and satisfaction among physicians served by MTN. Recovery Operations Oversees all organ and tissue procurement policies to ensure compliance with current regulations and standards, oversees training and development of all procurement staff, provides quality assurance and control over all recovery operations. Maintains direct oversight of all Donor Care and Surgical Recovery Unit operations, including regulatory compliance, supply and staffing management, physician interactions and patient management/recovery operations. Uses sound judgment, makes appropriate recommendations, and implements changes in operations in order to maximize donation and effectiveness. Provides effective and timely communication to the Chief Executive Officer on all matters, including trends, pending initiatives, and other matters affecting organizational clinical operations. Works collaboratively with the Chief Stakeholder Engagement Officer to utilize data to drive donation improvements across the service area and accelerates hospital engagement and partnership. Implements and executes all organizational and administrative policy decisions set forth by the Board. Manages and directs the organ and tissue procurement departments. This may be done directly or indirectly through department leaders. This includes employment, education, supervision, evaluation, counsel, and termination. Maintains mutually beneficial relationships with all local transplant centers served by the MTN. Collaborates with transplant physicians and surgeons to support transplantation initiatives during the donation and transplantation process. In conjunction with the clinical leadership team, oversees the management and direction of all MTN personnel as they are involved in organ/tissue recovery activities. This includes oversight of the established formal orientation and training programs, creation of new programs, and continuing education activities to maintain state-of-the-art practice. Works directly with the Medical Director(s) to guide all aspects of organ donor care, physician relationships and quality and safety as it relates to the aspects of organ donation. Responsible for the development and establishment of policies and protocols for The Donor Care and Surgical Recovery Unit, organ/tissue donor evaluation, management, recovery, safety and allocation, in conjunction with the Medical Director(s) and clinical leadership. Ensures the implementation and adherence to all such policies and protocols as set forth by the OPO. The Chief Clinical Officer will ensure all protocols, policies and guidelines established within the recovery program are in full compliance with state and federal regulations (including FDA, CMS, OPTN policies), requiring an awareness and comprehension of all current and future legislation affecting the OPO. Maintains current and up-to-date knowledge of the legal aspects of the donation process. Works with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) to monitor quality improvement strategies and the effectiveness of donor assessment and organ/tissue recovery, ensuring organizational standards and service quality for donor families, hospital staff, transplant centers, and recipients. Provides feedback to staff and CAO and take steps to improve staff performance when necessary. Assists Chief Financial Officer in managing a budget for the clinical areas on an annual basis. Maintains expenditures of clinical operations within the approved annual budget framework and explain any variances. ORGANIZATIONAL REPRESENTATION AND DEVELOPMENT Communication and media functions with staff, Board, and external sources. Significant travel responsibilities. Ensure organizational compliance with OPTN, FDA, CMS and other external agencies. Involvement with organizational promotion. Contract negotiation. Oversight of annual budget preparation and fiscal effectiveness.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration required.
Minimum ten years experience in Administration/Healthcare leadership, preferably in progressively responsible leadership positions, required.
CPTC certification or ability to obtain certification within two years required.
Ability to self-motivate and function autonomously.
Excellent negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven leadership, motivation and organizational planning skills.
Demonstrated ethical character attributes.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy.
Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.
Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week, including some nights and weekends for meetings.
Ability to lift 10 pounds and transfer short distances.
Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment.
Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone.
OSHA Category II – Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties. Bloodborne pathogens protection is required.
Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
