About The Position

The Vice President, Capital Management Forecasting will lead Fortitude Re’s enterprise capital forecasting strategy and governance framework, overseeing the development of integrated forward-looking financial and capital projections supporting executive decision-making, strategic planning, capital optimization, and enterprise risk management. This role serves as the enterprise owner of forecasting methodologies, scenario design, and capital planning integration across financial, regulatory, and rating agency reporting frameworks. The position is responsible for strengthening governance and analytical consistency, and enhancing enterprise decision-support through automation, integrated forecasting architecture, and strategic insight generation. The VP will partner closely with senior leadership across Finance, Investments, Treasury, Risk, and Actuarial functions to align forecasting with enterprise strategy, capital allocation priorities, liquidity planning, and risk appetite objectives. This role will lead the Capital Management Forecasting Team (CMFT) and report to the Managing Director, Head of Capital Management.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required with actuarial science, mathematics, or other quantitative fields preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in capital management, enterprise forecasting, financial planning, actuarial modeling, or strategic finance within the insurance or reinsurance industry.
  • Associateship (ASA) with a demonstrated track record of senior-level capital management experience; Fellowship of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) preferred.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise capital frameworks, financial forecasting methodologies, stress testing practices, and strategic capital planning within complex insurance organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory and rating agency capital frameworks, including Bermuda EBS/BSCR and major rating agency methodologies.
  • Proficiency in actuarial modeling with hands-on experience in projection software (AXIS or equivalent).
  • Strong strategic thinking, organizational leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to influence outcomes across a matrixed organization.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and executive presentation skills with the ability to synthesize complex information into actionable business insights.
  • Demonstrated success building, developing, and leading high-performing teams within complex financial or actuarial organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the enterprise capital forecasting strategy supporting long-term business planning, capital deployment optimization, and enterprise growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement in forecasting transparency, analytical consistency, and integration across downstream reporting, strategic planning, and management information systems.
  • Establish and govern enterprise-wide forecasting methodologies, scenario management standards, and capital planning frameworks to ensure consistency, transparency, and strategic alignment across the organization.
  • Oversee the quarterly forecasting of all capital and financial related metrics, including management earnings and valuation, US GAAP, leverage targets, Embedded Value, regulatory (EBS/BSCR) and rating agency frameworks across a range of scenarios and sensitivities.
  • Define requirements for the enterprise forecasting model, partner with the Actuarial Modeling team to develop and test new functionality and approve model changes prior to production deployment.
  • Establish a common framework for explaining results period-over-period, enabling attribution analyses across all reporting bases, enhancing management understanding of capital drivers and sensitivities.
  • Serve as the technical authority within CMFT, with oversight of reserving and capital requirements under US GAAP, the Bermuda Economic Balance Sheet (EBS), and rating agency capital frameworks (Fitch, AM Best, Moody’s), ensuring technical accuracy and consistency across all forecast outputs.
  • Identify and design supplementary systems and processes to extend the enterprise forecasting model’s coverage, ensuring all reporting requirements are met across entities, accounts, and business segments not directly modeled within the core architecture.
  • Drive CMFT’s contribution to the transformation of forecasting capabilities through automation, integrated data solutions, enhanced analytical tooling, and streamlined operating models to improve scalability, governance, and operational efficiency.
  • Design and monitor the control framework governing all CMFT forecasting deliverables, in line with internal model risk and audit standards.
  • Partner with Finance, Treasury, Investments, Risk, and Actuarial teams to align forecasting assumptions, strategic planning inputs, and enterprise capital objectives across all major business initiatives.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a team of actuarial and finance professionals fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.
