About The Position

Hill International is seeking a Vice President, Business Development in Seattle, Washington. This role involves identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, establishing and maintaining positive client relationships, understanding the competitive landscape, developing effective win strategies, and leading proposal and interview preparation. The position also contributes to identifying strategic hires and ensuring client satisfaction post-award. Responsibilities extend to reviewing potential conflicts of interest, providing pricing intelligence, and participating in legal and contractual reviews, including the execution of teaming agreements and MOUs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Architecture, Planning or Construction Management preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in Operations or Business Development role for a professional services firm, preferably with specific Construction Management experience
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
  • Self-motivated, success oriented and organized
  • Know the local market, clients and competitors
  • Travel as needed/expected
  • Expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue business opportunities in targeted markets consistent with Hill’s business strategy.
  • Develop specific client and opportunity strategies and lead Go/No Go discussions.
  • Lead team efforts to position for targeted pursuits.
  • Establish and maintain positive client relationships by identifying and participating in industry networking, meeting with potential clients and decision-makers, understanding client needs, and documenting meetings.
  • Identify and research competitors, understand their strengths and weaknesses, and lead effective teaming strategies.
  • Develop win strategies focused on the best approach to deliver client value, understanding decision processes and client decision drivers.
  • Lead the process of developing proposals and presentations focused on defined win strategies, owning the proposal process and coaching presentation teams.
  • Identify strategic hiring needs based on targeted opportunities and assist internal recruiters and industry networks in finding candidates.
  • Serve as an internal client advocate after winning assignments, ensuring Hill stays in touch with client needs and developing strategies to maintain client interests.
  • Conduct reviews to determine potential conflicts of interest.
  • Provide intelligence to support pricing strategy.
  • Participate in legal and contractual review.
  • Lead execution of teaming agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs).
