About The Position

The Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Litigation, is responsible for managing all litigation for the Company and providing general advice and counsel related to a broad range of pre-litigation and litigation matters, including labor and employment matters. The ideal candidate will have experience advising, litigating, and investigating employment and labor issues, and drafting and reviewing employment policies and employment-related documents.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of employment law (FLSA, ADA, FMLA, Title VII, wage & hour) and litigation processes.
  • Strong ability to develop and implement strategic legal approaches to manage risk and resolve disputes.
  • Skilled in managing outside counsel, legal budgets, and internal litigation support functions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leadership.
  • Proven experience conducting internal investigations and handling government inquiries.
  • Effective in representing the company at mediations, arbitrations, and court proceedings.
  • Proficiency in managing discovery, e-discovery, litigation holds, and records compliance.
  • Capable of delivering legal training and promoting compliance across the organization.
  • High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism in handling sensitive matters.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex legal issues.
  • Juris Doctorate
  • 8+ years’ experience in employment law, litigation, litigation management or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Retains outside counsel and manages performance of outside counsel, including reviewing and ensuring reasonableness of outside counsel invoices.
  • Reviews recommendations of outside counsel to develop and implement strategies on pre-litigation and litigation matters.
  • Represents Company in employment law matters, both litigation and compliance.
  • Works closely with key business stakeholders and executive leadership to conduct internal investigations, assess litigation risks and develop strategies for resolving matters.
  • Collaborates with the Operations Counsel on managing government investigations and addressing contract matters that may lead to litigation.
  • Serves as the Company representative at mediations, arbitrations and court proceedings.
  • Reviews settlement offers and makes recommendations about accepting or rejecting offers.
  • Oversees and manages legal services specialists responsible for subpoena response, discovery and e-discovery, litigation holds and records management.
  • Monitors pre-litigation and litigation matters and prepares reports for management review, diligence and audit requests.
  • Manages legal reserves and assists with the preparation of legal department budget.
  • Provides internal training and education on matters related to litigation and legal topics.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
