About The Position

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a dedicated Vice Chair of Quality for the Department of Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center. The Vice Chair of Quality will advance the Department’s mission to improve patient outcomes through safe, timely, efficient, and patient-focused care. This role requires a collaborative, creative, and visionary physician leader who will foster a culture of innovation and high reliability, implement and oversee performance improvement initiatives, engage faculty and trainees in developing and maintaining best practices, and partner with institutional leaders to drive success. This role combines clinical, administrative, and academic responsibilities with the flexibility to shape the role based on the individual candidate.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine and/or an Internal Medicine subspecialty.
  • A minimum of three years of experience after completing residency or fellowship.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational, teaching, and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to initiate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A collaborative, empathic, and team-oriented approach to working with patients, families, and healthcare professionals across various disciplines.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a faculty appointment at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain credentials as an Attending Physician at HUMC.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred experience in quality improvement with a strong record of publications and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and lead quality improvement initiatives across the Department of Medicine for both inpatient and ambulatory care.
  • Chair the Department of Medicine Quality Council and the Peer Review Committee, overseeing case reviews, OPPE, and FPPE.
  • Develop and manage quality dashboards to identify areas for improvement and track progress.
  • Ensure adherence to standards from organizations like the Joint Commission and CMS.
  • Work with the Office of Patient Experience to enhance patient care.
  • Create quality and safety programs for residents and fellows, and mentor faculty in quality improvement.
  • Promote research and publications in the field of quality and safety.
