About The Position

Best Care Pet Hospital is hiring a full- or part-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to provide skilled patient care and exceptional service to clients. The ideal candidate has experience in animal care, client communication, and veterinary procedures, and is passionate about improving the lives of pets and their owners.

The role supports veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery. It also involves communicating with clients, performing technical duties, maintaining accurate medical records, and helping keep the hospital’s work areas and equipment clean, stocked, and ready. The technician must follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.

The position is based at Best Care Pet Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The hospital provides veterinary wellness medicine, advanced care, and general surgery, and is AAHA-accredited. The listed schedule is 30 to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Salary is $18.00 to $21.00 per hour, depending on skills and experience.

Requirements

• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) certification.
• Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.
• Knowledge of common disease states and ability to alert veterinarians to changes in patient conditions.
• Familiarity with DEA, OSHA, and hospital safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Support veterinarians with patient care, examinations, surgery, anesthesia, and recovery.
• Safely and compassionately handle and restrain animals.
• Communicate clearly with clients, including providing care instructions and status updates.
• Perform technical duties such as laboratory work, radiographs, injections, and IV catheter placement.
• Maintain accurate medical records and assist with dispensing medications.
• Help keep examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment clean, stocked, and ready.
• Follow hospital, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
